He won't play many minutes if any at all, it'll be just be training with the squad which will be great experience for him.
Even just being with them and training with them adds expectancy and pressure. He's coming off a serious injury, he has finally managed a couple of performances which do his undoubted ability justice, he should be spending this week with Pochettino and the coaches to continue his improvements.

He was already with the U21s though.

No pressure or expectancy there.

If you're a professional footballer pressure and expectancy has probably been prevalent through your entire conscious memory. The players who go on to be great feed off of it. It's great for Winks, who for me has the ingredients to become a mainstay in our first 11 and England's.

Or it could be a massive confidence boost for him, and push him on. It's not like he's going to start.

And winks is the type of player who will take it as a huge compliment and as you say give him great confidence. The lad has brilliant determination.

Great for Winks but shows how bad the state of our national team is calling up someone who is still so raw and just back from injury.

Wouldn’t have happened back in the nineties when we actually had a large base of players to choose from.

Carlton Palmer for 18 England caps.
