Has it been a good season?

One of those sides being Newcastle who had just been relegated, who struggled to score all season and who managed to score 5 past us despite having 10 men. I have had issues with our character and mentality since the Leicester cup game but today's showing has raised serious concerns in this area for me. Today was very much a reversion to the Hoddle team of the early '00s and the Graham side of the late '99s and it simply a terrible starting position to start a new season from.
The fact we lost the most points from winning positions is a telling stat when it comes to our mentality

Well at least we took the red pill this year - embracing the sometimes painful "truth" of a title chase. Hopefully we'll be taking it from now on every season. Sometimes it may not always be such a bitter pill to swallow.

The players don't give a fuck

The way they played showed that

They haven't been humbled, they just went on their holidays or started preparing for the Euros after the Chelsea game. They clearly couldn't give a fuck about the last two games because they made no effort in them and got rolled over by two inferior teams who were prepared to work harder and wanted the win more

Call me optimistic, but I'd think some of them, at least, really do care. Not in the slightest that they left you on a forum feeling hard done by at the end of the season, but that they fell flat at the end, haven't been winning and let themselves and their team down. Some, at least, will come back stronger and better for it.

Their output effort levels today suggest that they really didn't care

The comments that stated expressly that it doesn't matter if we finish above Arsenal suggest they didn't care (as a collective)

They were on their holidays or had their eyes on preparation for the Euros

They didn't care about the game today - that was evident from their performance and the effort and desire on display during the match

It doesn't matter how optimistic you want to be - it was evident for all to see today that the team did not care about the game and were already finished for the season

I'm not saying they don't care in general - they've shown plenty of desire and fight all year and they will do again next year when they consider the games to be meaningful again.....but today even Stevie Wonder could see they didn't consider the game or important and they didn't care because they didn't turn up

If you look at where we started the season it was a great season but you can't ignore the context of how the season played out. I'm fucking furious and disgusted by the manner they managed to let us all down again. At the moment they can all go and fuck themselfs.

Last year

And this season. We had won the most points from losing positions up until march 21st this season. It might have changed now but we'll certainly be in the top 3/4 teams. It doesn't suggest we have a weak mentality. We might have crumbled since the WBA result but having the youngest team in the league probably points to inexperience rather than mentality.

I think it shows a combination of weak mentality, lack of leadership (perhaps hand in hand) and lack of options and depth to kill games off or change them when we've lost momentum

Long term wise, it seems that today defeat will trigger a busy in and out this summer, which is a good thing

We have extra motivation to challenge for 1st or 2nd places next season as well

You don't care about arsenal above us, after , er , at least a few weeks later.

I don't know how I am going to make it through the summer, the amount of stick I will receive. The amount I endured with some Gooner 'friends' earlier was enough for a lifetime

But you don't gain so many points from losing positions if you have a weak mentality, you just crumble, which we haven't all season. Up until today we hadn't been beaten in a league game by more than 1 goal - again, that's doesn't point to a weak mentality. I just think our inexperience has shown since we've gone out of the title race, and as you quite rightly pointed out, we possibly don't have the depth of squad we thought we had.

We've had a bad few games at a crucial time in the season but come on, lets not undo all the amazing work which has been done throughout such a great season.

Just remind them how far ahead they used to be in comparison to us, and then remind them that finishing 2nd almost certainly means that they will still have Wenger in charge next season.

This must be what it feels like to be an Arsenal fan, challenging for the title and ending up embarrassingly off the mark..

And who'd have thought we'd be feeling like this at the start of the season.

Just shows how far we've come under Poch

Well they manage to finish above their arch rivals every year. So no, this is not how they feel.
