Hello folks. Im sure all of you are now aware of the murder of Wilson Palacios's younger brother Edwin. He doesnt deserve this and to play football and produce such quality knowing his brother was kidnapped is baffling. And to even wait 6 hours for harry to wake up and tell him the news is even more baffling. But this just goes to show what a terrific lad he is and deserves nothing but respect. So my petition, more like an idea, is to try and get as many fans as possible going to the man city game to perform a minute chant of "wilson pa-la-cios" like we usually do at the start of the game. I will be chanting his name and i hope people will join in. This thread is also available to give any messages of support to Wilson. Thanks for your time.

cheers riggi, it reminds me of the "stand up for the 96" liverpool performed, i just think if we pulled this idea off the amount of respect and recognition the club, the fans and palacios would get would be overwhelming.

Yea great idea. Would tend to go with agree with robo here though. Would probably be next season before that properly happens though, so maybe the Man City game would be good.

I'm not going, but if I was I would join in. As you said the guy has been quality since he came in, especially with all of the stuff hanging over his head.

I'm pretty sure this will happen anyway. The crowd will be well aware of the situations of both Defoe and Palacios. We should definitely show our support for them both.

Defoe got big support against west brom but he will always get his name sung no matter what. But they both deserve the respect.

erm when Defoe's Bro died they didn't wear black arm bands did they?
well they definitely should for wilsons brother. Anyone recon they would do a minute of silence seeming as it is at home?

I know but it didn't seem like it was official. These are 2 of our boys and we should afford them a minute's silence/black armband at least.

I will happily belt it out. I don't expect Wilson to turn out for us until pre season now and to be honest he deserves a break from football more than anyone.

would be better to wait until he could hear it for himself

I'm sure the club have been very open ended about his compasionate leave, but is he expected back for Liverpool?

I'm sure that would have been at JD's discretion. Similarly it will be with WP. My personal feeling is it should be a private/family matter and publically shouldn't go beyond anyone who wants to sending condolences/messages of support via the club.

as with JD, the final decision lies with the player himself and the club respects that decision

Wilson has been given compassionate leave for the rest of the season, the club are aware of his beliefs, and the customs and traditions contained within his honduran culture and accept that as the "head of the family" he has duties that must be performed.

Blimey, you don't get many employers like that around. Good to hear.

Definitely up for the chant. Nice petition

It's a fitting way to show respect, even though he may not be there or be watching the game.

Whether Wilson is there or not, the message would no doubt be passed onto him, and the sentiments therefore echoed.

Sod a minute, we should be singing it for 5 minutes, not only would it be a massive sign of respect, but would also create an amazing atmosphere.
