Our club has to get out of this mentality. We sign players for a lot of money, and our fans assume that they have to play, and will be in the starting line up every week.

Why do we lack ambition so much? To be a big club, you have to think like a big club, and we haven't moved with the times. The top 4 have £15 million players on the bench every week, why cant we?

What I am really getting at is.....we should still sign try to sign Arshavin, and with him we CAN still have a balanced team on the pitch every week.

Last night our midfield four were run ragged by a midfield 5. Not just because Bentley was cack, but because Lennon was playing very wide and we were cut through like butter.

What if we could have switched to a 4-5-1 with attacking flair? Imagine Modric, Arshavin and Lennon in it, with Zokora and a 100% Appiah doing the donkey work? They wouldn't have cut us open then.

If we bought him we could resonably have two great lineups for all kinds of scenarios, and without the shambolic bench we had last night.

And then you still have Bent, jenas, Dawson, Hutton, Bale, Bentley, Hudd, Dos Santos, Campbell

i.e endless possibilities, and depth.

You have to be able to adapt, and we are one trick ponies.

I don't think Harry will look at the price tags when choosing his starting 11

Harry speaks of balance and power in our team, could be argued that Downing would add some form of balance and Appiah may add some power

We could be looking at something like this as our strongest 11 come the close of the window

Of course that depends on signing both Downing and Appiah (and Appiah being a stonger/better option then any of our other CM options)

i don't think they have to play if they have a big price tag. on the contrary, i think bentley has to definitely not play.

or just that the club needs to hold on to/not sack a manager..get some stability over 3or4 years, let harry buy some decent players that HE wants for not ridiculous prices and then it wont be a problem...bentley was a gamble that hasnt payed off..one great goal in a big match..

I don't think it was a gamble, I thin kwe have been unlucky. We signed a good player, that has lost the plot overnight. As seems to have happened to several players this year...

but the instability cant have helped and its a syndrome associated with a lot of spurs players former and current..
