Is that not dependent upon Lewandowski being sold? Eriksen is supposedly going to replace the departed Gotze, I know that much. i just had a feeling that incomings would be to purely replace outgoings?

possibly mate, my point was, will they still want Son if they don't sell Lewandowski? I was leaning towards the thought that they were more interested in replacing those that leave. I have a feeling that Klopp is happy with things as they stand & won't want to add too much to an obviously very close knit team?

Can't believe lazy press still linking us with Son? He's off to Dortmund according to his people to replace a certain Pole!

Son's still only 20 years old, so from his point of view.... moving to a bigger club than HSV in a familiar league, to a club that was the CL final this year and will most likely be playing CL for a few season to come...is a smart move. And he'll not earn less there than he will at Spurs.
It's up to Levy now to take a gamble. Spurs have missed out on players like Eden Hazard, Suarez because Levy hesitated and because the Spurs scouts weren't "convinced".
Spurs MUST catch them young. And with a new "dollar guzzling" club popping up each year it seems it's even harder to get quality players at "decent" prices now a days are there are more and more clubs willing to pay silly money for above average players.

Quite a few media outlets saying this. Ridiculous, 20 year old winger/striker playing in Bundesliga, goals and assists going to Leverkusen for 8mil. I know Leverkusen allows CL football and mimimum upheaval for him but I still think if we came in for him properly he'd come here.

ITKs saying he was going Dortmund appear to be wrong probably confirmed by the fact that Dortmund are chasing Bernard.

Surely we're missing a trick.

Maybe Castles was right when he said, to some extent, that upon further review AVB did not view him as what this club needed. Let's hope AVB was right if that's the case. If he moves for 8m, it was worth a punt in my mind. That's an investment that could triple, but at least double I'd imagine.

I think if he ends up at Dortmund the reality will be that we couldn't have signed him anyway so whether he turns out to be a good investment or not it will be irrelevant as he'd have gone to the regardless

I hadn't checked out the report, but doesn't it mention Leverkusen?

Honda and Natkho would solidify our midfield for probably around 14-15m combined.

Both will be out of contract in the winter.

Going back to your original post: Yes, if Dortmund is in for him, you really can't fault anyone on not landing him. He'd get to move up a pretty substantial step within the same league and get to play on a much bigger stage.

I'm moving my hopes to Imoh Ezekiel. I think PEA and Son are kind of dead to us at this point.

A bit of both really, AVB didn't get guarantees that we'd still get Leandro/Lone striker if we signed Son plus once Dortmund showed an interest we were clear second favourites.

Yikes, 8-10m on Son and we wouldn't have enough to land a lone striker? We must be pretty short, or have a really strong idea where the rest of the money is going.
