Greavesy all day. Good as he was we never won anything with Hoddle !!!
Hoddle won two FA Cups and one UEFA Cup as a Spurs player.

Greaves won two FA Cups and one Cup Winners Cup as a Spurs player.

They literally won just as much with us.

As for the poll, I'm too young to have seen either in the flesh as a player (except Hoddle at Chelsea in the 90s) so I won't vote based on a couple of videos. Both highlight reels are exceptional in different ways.

Impossible choice to make for anyone who wasn’t around to watch both play. Can’t we just rejoice in the fact that the best midfielder and the best striker to ever play football in this country both dedicated most of their careers to Spurs?

Hoddle, and specifically his swansong against Oxford, is the reason I played football, and why Spurs are my team. To watch him play was to experience an epiphany.

Hoddle was great. But Greaves was top level, talking best ever. European football he is ronaldo and messi level in stats, england 44 goals in 57 games. Club level ronaldo only took over from him last year. But ghod was god.

Like looking into a bowl of fruit and deciding banana is better than an apple....in this case a pointless exercise. Two very different types of player with the only things in common being they both played for Spurs and are my joint favourite players ever:)

Watching Hoddle in the 1981 FA Cup final (Both legs) was the first time I heard about Spurs, where both Hoddle and Ardiles caught my eye. I remember watching them commanding the midfield and said to myself, I recognise that short one, only to remember watching him playing for Argentina in the 1978 World Cup. I was then smitten by both so I had no choice but to start supporting Spurs.

Didn't Know anything about Greaves until I watched him on Saturday mornings on The Saint and Greavsie. Even then I wasn't aware he played for us!

Obviously Hoddle gets my vote for sentimental reasons

to vote on this you should be of an age to have seen the whole career of both and if you have lived that long I can't think of many if any who would not choose Jimmy he was the absolute best. Hoddle was brilliant if underused by several England managers.
The thing about greaves was that he had to put up with the likes of Chopper Harris ; Banks the animal full back for bolton ; Stan Crowther whose claim to fame was he broke the legs of five players ; Jimmy Schoular whose mantra was forget about the ball and get on with the game he was a Nasty individual.
But jimmy no matter how many times tackled from behind never but never retaliated and still mostly came out on top .The man was a genius.

Hoddle because I wanted to be him growing up and wore really short shorts.

But totally understand anyone that says greaves as he was a machine.

This is an unfair poll.
In order to have seen Greaves at his best you would need to be at least 60 years old!
I would imagine that the majority of posters are between 10 and 20 years younger, and couldnt in all fairness have seen Greaves inhis majestic pomp.
Im over 70 so feel able to comment fairly
Greaves was without doubt the finest striker i have ever seen worldwide, and whilst Hoddle was the best ever mid field player for Spurs i have seen many other midfielders who were on a par .
However without doubt they were both the best Spurs player in their positions, but for me Jimmy edges it.
