We have had the deal in place for aouar since 30th of June which Is when I informed the gods of sc. It’s on the don

Interesting thanks? ... i feel we need to move some midfielders Winks, Siss or Ndoms to accommodate... also our tally for foreign players is at max now i think, so maybe we have to shift one foreign spot regardless anyway.

We need McKennie more than Aouar IMO [and Kessie the most].

I like that Nuno has elected our first choice midfield to be comprised of 3 physical midfielders with strong work rates, and I strongly believe Dele, Skipp, and Hojbjerg are the predominant reason we’ve kept two clean sheets against two strong attacking sides.

Lo Celso needs to step up and be the creative outlet we’re seeking or he needs to be sold as he offers significantly less protection than our other midfielders. With Aouar, while we may have a more natural ball progresser, we’ll certainly lose some steel in our midfield. The general understanding seems to be that Traore (if signed) can also drop in and be used as a ball progresser.

McKennie is more than capable of playing across the midfield 3 by all accounts which only Skipp and Hojbjerg are currently capable of doing effectively in the squad.

I disagree, IMO our biggest problem in midfield is progressing the ball from the middle third of the pitch to the attacking third. McKennie is not a ball player, he does two things: He's a grafter who adds steel to midfield, and makes late runs into the box and gets on the end of chances. Skipp gives us the midfield steel in matches where we're up against it, and Dele gives us the late runs into the box. It'd be great to have a player who does both, but it's more of a luxury when you consider we have midfielders with those attributes already and are woefully short of creativity.

Auoar on the other hand is a ball player, as well as a midfield dribbler. He takes players out of the game with his dribbling and then shifts the ball quickly and progressively. He would replace what we'd be losing with Tanguy and is exactly what we need if we sell Ndombele IMO.

Given that WLB is saying that we've got this one lined up and it's up to Fabio, I wouldn't be surprised if it came down to finding a solution for getting Tanguy out of the club.

The (or my) dream is winks and sissoko out for one of Aouar, Kessie, McKennie. I think on paper our midfield would be stacked.

Dele/Ndombele - PEH/Skipp - GLC/Aouar - no excuses best players play.

From May 2021
"L’Equipe (via GFFN) report that Lyon’s current financial deficit stretches to an estimated €185m, particularly after they failed to qualify for the Champions League. "

Couple this with financial losses of circa 36M euros due to covid season , not qualifying for CL this season and collapse of the 3Billion euro television deal for Ligue 1 they are not doing great, like most in that league

Yep, this seems like a no-brainer. We have gotten some interesting posts in this thread regarding his attitude, and if we are able to get that sort of information, i would assume the the likes of Paratici and the hierarchy within Spurs are aware as well. If the rumours are true, this has to be a no-go. Its bad enough to sign a player that wont contribute, but it gets a lot worse when the same player has the potential to ruin the morale within the team. Maybe he would have been a great success but its not worth the risk in my opinion.
