Have ben wondering about how his leg has been since the game against Newcastle. He got a pretty naughty challenge and looked in pain so was wondering if he had sustained an injury. Anyone know anything?

He'll be alright. It's his hip that worries me. Read an interview with him that seemed to fly under the radar a while back in which he basically said that the injury won't go away and it's something he'll have to 'manage' for the rest of his career.

I honestly think Dembele can get a rest this Thursday which would let him have almost 2 weeks to rest up. He'd have from 2/9 to 2/21. That would be a huge boost for him to simply rest for that amount of time.

After watching Lyon today, I'm even more convinced that a Livermore and Parker midfield will work.

Lyon really struggled when Lille players pressed them. Livermore and Parker are more than adept at that, and the way Livermore throws his weight around, I can see him really putting in a memorable shift. I was shocked to see how uncomfortable Lyon players (and seriously, all of them - Gonalons, too) were when they had guys closing in on them.

The way Lille continually exposed Lyon's defense by essentially playing the ball to whichever midfield played more through the middle, whether that be Marvin Martin or Florent Balmont, I'm of the firm belief that Holtby could essentially do the same job. From what I could tell, Lille essentially brought 4 in attack at all times and it was more than sufficient. A trailing runner through the middle as their wingers made runs came open so many time because Lyon's defense was out of position so often. Lille played through balls the entire match and Lyon were seriously caught on their heels in horrible position at least 15 times. It was a mockery of defending. And, this was their first-choice back 4 considering that Dejan Lovren has been an utter liability in defense due to lack of discipline (3 Red Cards in 12 appearances in Ligue 1 - He's currently suspended, pray he plays).

Having Dembele either completely rested or on the bench and subbed on late to help push out an advantage going into the 2nd leg is more than okay with me.

Obviously this may be moot if he can't play at all, but if it's up for discussion, I'd say rest him and let him come back the 21st.

Hope he does the surgery the day after the season ends. It's probably his best shot at correcting it as much as possible.

It's a concern that we paid 15mil with him having passed a medical and then to find he has a historic hip problem making him worthless on the open market.

I reckon it is more that he has been told to hold back a bit now sandro is out for so long.

No way Mr DL would splash out on a croc

This hip thing has been blown out of proportion! He is fine. Many of us have little aches that don't seem to go away.

If we were ly to lose him for 8 games per season only then I wouldn't be too worried about the hip injury and it wouldn't have much affect on his value.

Not that I'd want to sell. If he can just improve his decision-making then he can be world-class

It'll be very interesting to see how we might handle Dembele should we sign another CM with a similar skill set. I'd love to see some real rotation.
