Another player who could be leaving Spain is Ibrahim Afellay who has been linked with a move to Russian side Zenit St Petersburg. The 26 year old has previously been linked with Arsenal and Inter Milan this summer after struggling with injury and form since arriving at the Nou Camp last January. Now it appears the Dutch international is a significant target for Zenit’s Italian manager Luciano Spalletti.

Argh, would hate it if he went to Russia. He should be playing in one of the top leagues in Europe. He would probably want CL though, so doubt our chances.

I got him on FIFA Ultimate team the other day... it's a sign ;-)

I agree he is class. Would push Bale hard and might change of left flank as BAE gets dropped and Bale & Aff marauding up & down

Very surprised we havent been more linked to him in the media. Would be ideal as competition on the wings and AM role, and at a very reasonable price one would think?

Perfect signing for us IMO, he should be relatively cheap, he won't be overhyped by the media when he arrives and can provide great cover and competition for at least 2 positions in the team.

maybe this one is gonna be a season long loan? not sure if the new RM "partnership" will adversely effect this

would much rather take him on loan, rather than spend 10+ million for isco or 20 on willian. let me defend myself, i like isco and willian as players. if they play for us, they will very much flourish. but they play a position where we are currently populated with first choice players. on the other hand, we have position that either lacking first choice players(mc), or its extremely thin(st). if getting willian or isco will compromise our deal for a striker or an mc, i much rather loan affellay and keep bale and lennon as first choice.

Most reports saying Barca are willing to send him out on loan with us, the Goons and 'Pool fighting it out to get him. I could imagine he'd be a chief back up option for us if the Willian deal falls through. Arsenal don't particularly need him so I think that's unlikely. He'd be exactly what Liverpool need though so I could see that one happening. They'ill be looking strong if that comes off so I hope it doesn't. Then again, Afellay is not a player that you can count on to play more than half the games in a season.

So would he come instead of Willian? Willian only has a year left right? So this would make sense a loan signing for a year.

If that was the case and we saved ourselves 15m can we please go and spunk it on a striker LD/Llorente etc etc etc.

Don't see why you can't have them both if they can cover the Bale and Lennon role.

I just see it as id rather have another striker than two back ups for the wings. One back up for the wings who can play on either. Affelay strikes me as such a player.

I guess im just SO desperate for another striker.

So if we played 2 up front would you be happy with only 3 strikers?

Lennon will probably get injured and Bale will lose form at some point. So it would be good to have options.
