I don't see why Affelay would be "instead of" anyone.

We need cover for both wide areas. Townsend and Gio are not good enough.

So if we played 2 up front would you be happy with only 3 strikers?

Lennon will probably get injured and Bale will lose form at some point. So it would be good to have options.

As it stands we have one striker and a midget (I like Defoe but no way fits in with AVBs system). If Ade gets injured we are a bit fucked. If one of the wingers gets injured we have our back up (albeit one) if two of the three wingers gets injured than thats just bad luck.

I agree with options im just trying to prioritise what I would rather have with the limited funds we seem to have. I dont know how much we have so im just speculating here.

Latest reports on Twitter saying Barca have accepted bids from Spurs, L'pool and Schalke - not Arsenal.

Now up to player to decide.

All the info I have had on this one is that his preference is Schalke currently. Liverpool aren't really interested anymore either and going balls out for Walcott.

But enough about Arsenal's training methods...;)

Affelay would just be a bonus considering it'd be a loan. Happy if it comes off but our focus is clearly elsewhere.

Yep, icing on the cake, not the cake itself.

I'm also in the Isco boat. He's got such a future and I hope it's with Spurs, plenty cheaper and easier to get than Willian too and a much better long term option than Affelay.

Barcelona's Ibrahim Afellay could be heading to Spurs. The Dutch winger has been cut from 5/1 into 6/4 to join AVB at White Hart Lane. Check out the latest odds.

From what I've seen, I think this would be enormous for us if we can get him in on a loan with the option to buy.

There's nothing wrong with Afellay in terms of his talent, he's got a ton of it. It's a matter of staying in good health. If he can show us that he can do that, I'm sure he'd get the playing time he wants and also it'd give us the opportunity to snag a player who is plenty capable of being a contributor for Barcelona.

He really is a great player, so much more intelligent than any of our attacking players.

Rumours are he's a bit of a bellend as a person. Has a bit of the nasri's about him, supposedly. Maybe some of our Dutch Spurs fans could enlighten as to his character.

That wouldn't surprise me, he might be a little chastened by failing to make it at Barca though.

I saw a tweet from a news source earlier saying he'd decided on Schalke, but nothing since. Wouldn't be suprising if he chose Schalke, champions league, plus a lot of dutch players go to the bundesliga?

If getting him on a loan means we don't have to spend a princely sum on Willian, I'm all for it!
