you tell me, you're the east londoner. Must just be down the road!

3 questions - sorry to inturrupt this great line of insults - why do you care what i think of arsenal? what is the problem with not hating them? If we support spurs then do we not only care about spurs winning?

My views exactly - don't really care about Arsenal

I just want Spurs to finish as high as we can

Hooray, we've managed to get off topic and start hurling childish abuse at each other! :bang:

Not quite the line of discussion I had in mind when I set up this tread!

I understand that the thought of taking on an ex-Gooner is too much for some fans, but as it was a possibility that he may become available (less chance now if Balotteli doesn't move) and the fact that we all seem to want a striker who can play upfront on his own Adebayor could have been a potential target.

Let remember we all support OUR club in the end and we all want what's best for it to succeed.

I don't know if this was already posted:

IMScouting said:
Emmanuel Adebayor has asked Italian giants Juventus to come and rescue him from the potential Manchester City wilderness.

The Togo front man endured a troubled season last term, including the fatal attack on the Togo team at the African Nations Cup. Nonetheless, the 26-year-old still scored an impressive fourteen goals in 26 games for Manchester City .

However, City boss Roberto Mancini will come under pressure to send some players packing, given that he must announce a 25-man squad by September 1. There is enormous competition in the Manchester City attack with the likes of Carlos Tevez , Craig Bellamy , Robinho and Roque Santa Cruz already on the books before the possible arrival of Mario Balotelli .

Talking to Turin-based daily Tuttosport, Adebayor said "Juventus are a great club in which I would like to play, "Until some time ago I would not have accepted a transfer to other clubs. I wanted to wear the City shirt and have a better season compared to last year, but I know there will not be many chances for me and so I am considering the many offers I have received.

"I am sorry to leave the Premier League, but in Europe there are other top leagues."

What I hate is that until recent times and probably still now we hate Arsenal more than they hate us.

What occurs to me is small club syndrome, I mean I often look at West Ham fans and see their reaction when I tell them I am a spurs fan, they actually despise us...almost as if they hate us more than they love west ham. It always makes me laugh and I think what a pathetic little club being so jealous and obsessed with us.

One of the best things I can remember about Martin Jol's time in charge was it was the first time for over a decade the numerous Gooners I know via friends, associates or family actually started to hate us again. Because for a good while before that I was noticing that in many ways we had slipped down the order of their 'enemies' and they seemed to be preoccupied with Man U and see us as we see West Ham (us we dislike them but we don't really consider them on our level and thats how Arsenal had viewed us)

To me, when I see our fans going to extremes of hatred...bordering on caring more about Arsenal's failure than our own success....it smacks of West Ham petty small club syndrom.

I think we should have a 'healthy Hatred' for Arsenal, we have a long standing rivialry one drapped in history, traditional rivials. The ying to our yang, Derby days are great because of this, in some ways we need them because without them we would lose a special part of our season (the two yearly derbies and hopefully a head to head battle in league places)

What we need is to over throw them as the top team in our patch of London, because they have eclipsed us for so many years. It should be in the interest of passion and rivalry though, not bitterness and hatred.

Exactly how I feel, sir.

Rivalry is a healthy part of being a football fan. Hated means something is missing in your life.

I recently moved in with an Arsenal fan, he absolutely fucking detests Spurs. I felt similar to you guys, but meeting him has changed my mind.

I'd actually really dislike Arsenal even if they weren't our rivals. Wenger, the players, the way they carry themselves. Utter ****s.

I can relate to this. I've always lived up north so didn't know any gooners. Didn't have the day to day rivalry with friends, family or colleagues to annoy me.

Of course I didn't like them, it pissed me off when we lost to them more than to other teams but it wasn't an active hatred.

One man changed that, I worked with him for a couple of years at an insurance company in Liverpool. He had arsenal tattoos, wore Stoneisland clothes and thought he was a hooligan. He was just about 5 foot and you could have knocked him over by farting on him but he had an aggressive little way about him and he thought he was hard.

This was at the time of 'the invincibles' and smug is not an adequate description. Every now and again you had a half decent football conversation with him and then he'd ruin it with some arrogant statement or hilarious quip.

Tosser, I'm gonna find out where he lives tomorrow and see if he's so smug now they haven't won anything for a while.

I always say that I hate Arsenal because I have too...

but I hate Chelsea and Man Utd because I want too.

After recent events I now pity Liverpool.

His wages make it impossible for him to come to us,
So let's not argue about it anymore.

See AngerManagement I used to feel that way about Arsenal but since I moved to Hull my opinion has changed much in the way Kendall and Tony_parkes has. I invite you to come watch a Spurs vs Arsenal game in a pub in Hull with me, after 10 mins of having to listen to their idiot fair weather fans who clearly know nothing about football talking and trying to wind Spurs fans up you will have a dislike/hate for them you never knew could exist.

Hate has different levels, I guess most people hate Ian Huntley more than they hate Arsenal but hate Arsenal more than they hate Marmite (unless you're like me and like Marmite). It's perfectly normal to hate Arsenal as long as you don't cross the line and become a violent thug.

And you have no right to assume that anyone who doesn't hate them as much or would welcome one of their ex players is an Arsenal fan. That makes no sense anyway, it's idiotic.

Re Adebayor, I don't think he especially likes them anymore anyway.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but with the striker merry-go-round at City how would you feel if we made a bid for Emmanuel Adebayor! I know that he has the appearance of being very lazy, but so did/does Berba to some people. I think that he could lead the line as a loan striker and would feed off of crosses from Lennon and Bale well.
Discuss.

No.

He is a gimp.

I'm not judging you or preaching, if I came across as a preacher of some sort then I guess I misrespresented myself with my textual expression.

Ok yes, you and anyone else is entitled to HATE whom ever you like if you feel hatred in your heart for someone or something.

Obviously we are different people, and teams like arsenal and they;re fans are not as important to me as they are to you that they could inspire such intense feelings within me.

As for being policitally correct, I wouldn't say I am, again I may come across that way with the way I write, but then I do not talk how I write, I write in a formal fashion generally where as my accent and use of the English language is very different in verbal terms.

I was generalising with my comments, of course you cannot tar all members of a football circle of fans with the same brush look at you and I for one, you Hate Arsenal where as I dislike them and see them as our rivals...yet we are supporters of the same club but fundemetally different in this sense (so the same can be said no doubt of both Arsenal and West Ham fans.)

Maybe I should clarify, I assumed it would be taken for granted, that I was talking from my own experience and what I see (obviously I cannot claim to unviersally be able to summerise an entire set of fans to one club)

What I was saying was the general concensus of Arsenal fans I knew and know (maybe living in West London has a baring on this, because generally I see more hatred towards us from Chelsea fans than Arsenal and basically see releatively fee Hammers) but generally pre 2006 most Arsenal fans I knew (including my brother in law who is from Romford and his Arsenal supporting friends for the sake of differing regional fans) had become more concerned with Man U than us (largely due to the fact they challanged each other more and the whole Keown/Van Nistleroy episode)

I do know certain fans of each club, who like you truly have a hatred for rival clubs and their fans...which yes, as you say you are each entitled to.

I was speaking from my point of view, what I think and how such things appear to me. I personally do find it rather childish and petty that grown men would have such strong feelings of hate towards people they do not even know based purely on the football team they support, but I certainly did not mean to suggest my take on the matter is better than other peoples or that people must conform to my view....as I have said many times, I believe football forums are designed for people of similar and opposing views alike to discuss their views and opinions.

I respect your opinion and right to have it, ok it differs from mine and we have different levels of importance for rival clubs and their fans, which as said we are each entitled to have. I suppose myself, I am pretty much soley concerned with the love and success of my own club and while I do love to laugh at the misforunte of Arsenal and other such clubs I have a dislike for it really doesn't matter to me as much as yourself and other fans with similar emotions towards other clubs.

So allow me to clarify and correct myself, I do personally feel that obsessing over other clubs is some what petty and it is not something that I do myself, in my own experience and observation the Hammer fans I have met over the years has been how I expressed and my observation of Arsenal fans over the years also...I have witness a huge upsurge in Arsenal fans disliking us since around 2006, that was the point I was making, they hate us again now largely because we have come closer to their level and they have failed to win anything and as such fell closer to us so our rivalry has reignited (which I think is a good thing, as I hated the fact before that we seemd *from my observation* to have lost the significance to them we once had)

Anyway, you right, I can not speak for everyone, but I should say I did not intend to preach or suggest people should agree with me, I was only expressing my own postion.

I maintain my postion, I find the intense hatred for other clubs and their fans perplexing, its just not something I see the point of I guess. I for one am a fan of our club only not really a hater of others. However I respect your and every other fans who gets pleasure in the banter or whatever brings you forfillment from hating such teams and their fans, so by all means do what you do and enjoy doing it.
