What's Kane even good at? I can see him being a little bit bigger than the other kids and just bullying them, but nothing he does screams out quality to me.

I like to give youth a chance, and totally agreed with the policy, but I'm afraid, this sounds like it could be accurate. UNFORTUNATELY.

Flippin' heck... it's one game. They played their first XI (I presume) against a lot of our youth who haven't had a proper game in a while. Jesus.

Let's say thank you to the few guys who had dodgy performances today. It's one less competition to worry about. I would love for us to have progressed further, but if we are going to have bad games I would rather have them in cup games than league games right now.

Chill the fuck out guys.
(apart from the already chilled people obviously)

Your reaction is over the top, a lot of poor performances tonight but their lack of playing time (especially the back four and Pienaar) has to be taken into consideration.

The decision making by everyone tonight was poor but the opposition played well and got what they deserved. One may debate that based on the second half but in the first half they exploited our rusty defence.

I tend to trend towards this.
Gallas might displace Kaboul - though I suspect many of us would be happy with the King/Kaboul pairing continuing, but won't displace King - and is coming back from injury.
Pienaar is not a first teamer, but a quality versatile squad player - and is coming back from injury.
Modric is a first teamer - who has been sick.
Lennon is almost a first teamer.
The Octopus is struggling to be second choice these days :)cry:).
Defoe is now a squad player - judging by his starting position on our bench, these days.

The rest of our players tonight are young prospects being blooded - hell, even Bale and Walker, our subs, are actually really quite young.

I think we should credit PAOK a bit, the crazy-dude officiating, shrug our shoulders and move on.

He's been shit in every game he has played, this is not about one match.

I'd love to give some insite about what I think of you in return, but I've never seen you in Spurs chat, so I'll just pop you opinion in the irrelevant column.
Buddy what we should be doing is putting him in our fist team with all the first teamers around him. But we cant as every game in the prem is so tough and important to win, Harry wont play all the first teamers in europa for obvious reasons. If we could get say a 3 nil lead with 20 mins left in the prem then that when he should be played, blood the lad slowly. But once again ade is normally up top on his own and harry has to keep defoe happy. its a tough one. ???

Yes, another fair comment, but he seems so Ponderous. Almost Pav like.

Didn't really look like he was tearing his arse off either.
he came on against mk dons and scored 2 in 15 mins and made defoe look stupid. Mk dons i know but he is 18. slack needed i think.

Yeh I was at that game, thats an accurate portrayal of what happened.

Having seen him play live twice he does work really hard, which is a refreshing change to Pav. He's still finding his feet, a goal would do him the world of good I think.

Corluka really has no right to moan about not getting into the team!

I want to believe in Kane, read every match report when he was here last year, went to the LO forums when he played for them. I just need see something, anything, a good pass or maybe force the goalkeeper to make a save. Like for all their deficiencies, Pav and Crouch were at least specialized in one area. Seems too short to be a number 9, too slow to be a poacher, doesn't have enough skills to be a VDV forward.

Crouch I'll give you... But Pav!?... ummm... does blasting the ball into Row Z count as his specialisation?

disappointing to go out but what that game proved omce and for all to me was there are some players in and around the first team at spurs and squad who are bottom line just not up tp standard. corluka, bassong, pienaar are seasoned professionals now and they are just not good enough. the man on the street can see it so it time to let them go.

i feel for kane but like plenty on here he will not make it all at spurs , i see nothing there in fairness whether it be skill. pace , aerial ability, movement.. but he does have youth still on his side but certainly not promising when you comapre him to oxlade chamberlain last night its like night and day..

rose had a stinker but i like him alot and needs to get fit. livermore is laboured as well, does a decent protceting job but in terms of creativity its null and void im afraid..

we lost cos we had nothing up front in my opinion. in games like this i want to see imagination. intelligence and movement from spurs but so often there is such a lack of it its unreal. a better standard and intelligence of reserves and youth and hunger is needed.

Is this thread for real?

We lost in a competition that most of us weren't bothered about in the first place, with a couple of players returning from injury that looked a bit rusty, a couple of 18 yo's having an off day, against a team that parked the bus in the 2nd half and got lucky and would have been hammered had we had a shot on goal or two instead of trying to walk the ball in.

Bothered?

Not in the least. Back to the good stuff on Saturday.

I've been saying Corluka isn't good enough for ages. His man didn't have a yard on him in the first half - he had five. He's surely the slowest player off the mark in the Premiership? It's embarrassing. Both goals came from his side with balls which would have been cut out by a good full-back. Thankfully we have Walker for in serious competitions.

As for Bassong, if we can get good money for him we're absolutely laughing. Upgrading on him shouldn't be too hard. Rose had a shocker, but he's impressed up until today. To be fair to him that's his first bad game and he's got a future. I don't think the same can be said for Kane. I think he'll end up at Southend or somewhere in a couple of years of being pure average. I get the feeling Livermore is nothng better than average either. Nowhere near as good as O'Hara who was deemed not good enough - you could argue fairly.

Pienaar tried but he ultimately played shit but it's his first game in ages. I think he could turn out to be a key player for us if he can get going again.

It was a strange game but we were poor, but the team was predominately made up of players who haven't been playing games so it's understandable. Them and players who aren't very good. Corluka and Bassong need to go. Where was Pav? I guess he'll be off too, maybe dos Santos as well. I bet Levy would/will somehow persuade a few idiots and get something incredible like £30m for the four of them, I don't know how he does it.

I thought Bale did well tonight, especially considering what happened with Gary Speed, I heard he was pretty cut up about it all and he was our best player from the time that he came on.

I'd say we're out but to be honest it means we can concentrate fully on more important matters. We'd have no distractions whatsoever. But it means the players who aren't getting games in the Premiership side will be not getting any games at all as Harry has his first 11 and until someone gets injured he's not gonna change it.

Certain players need to be getting game time though including potential squad-player recruits in the upcoming window and the likes of Pienaar, Sandro, Rose, Gallas and even Defoe will all need game time, so I wouldn't have minded staying in it really - despite it ultimately being a joke cup. We have a reachable aim in the league this season, with potential for even better if things go our way. With a couple of nice changes in January we could have a great year, with a pop at the FA Cup n'all.

But fuck the Europa League. I'm just gutted because had we won I'd be up £280 for the day.

I don't recall seeing Corkula asking to leave anywhere?

This is the second time I've seen it mentioned by a poster on SC this morning though.

A good technically neat player, but alas in the Prem speed is of the essence due to the pace of the game and Walker has taken his chance this season.

Like Hudd he'll do well in a slower more technical league.

Mind you, I think he's criminally underrated by Spurs fans.
