Spurs strikers have scored a combined 6 premier league goals between them in 23 league games this season

Pav has scored 5 and crouch has got 1.

I honestly didn't think it would be this low, i am quite shocked.
We have relied too much this season on our midfielders to score.

I really hope we can bring in a quality striker this window so we can progress further. It's the only thing were missing, a striker who can find the net on a regular basis.

That 31m for Berbatov (anyone know how he's getting on at the mo...? :-( ) suddenly doesn't look quite such a good bit of business on our side, does it?

That's what i was thinking. In just two games he has scored more then all of our strikers put together.

When it get's this bad surely the chap with 5 of those goals should be playing, I know he has his faults but FFS.
It's worse than relegation form from our strikers.

Terrible management. Why Harry continues to play Defoe and Crouch is anyone's guess. Why did he sell Darren Bent, Bent would probably have double figures by now in our current squad. Not good enough for Harry though, would prefer pointless forwards.

+1

defoe has been so bad this season, worse than crouch, crouch may not score but at least he'll get the odd assist against lessor teams and European sides.

Pav might have his faults but there far less than the faults that Crouch and Defoe have ive been saying it for ages none of our strikers are good enough but some people on here dont like when its mentioned,we do need 2 world class strikers if we dont get them we are going to struggle to get back into champions league again

Any chance anyone can tell me how many consecutive games Defoe has played this season without being injured or suspended?

As according to the BBC he has started 8 games this season, played 12 and scored 4. It could be he actually just needs a run in the team. Not like he hasnt scored a lot of goals for us in the past.

What about van der vaart?? He seems to be playing as a forward, think you should include him in the stats?

if i am not mistaken he had scored more than defoe and crouch when they were brought back. :bang:. this crap that he could not fit into our style of play is horse sh*t.

I'd go out on a limb and say that either Pav or Keano being first choice forward would have scored more goals than our strikers have so far whilst being rotated.

Whether our team goals tally would be higher is another argument again.

Luckily I'm not paid to make these calls though

Midfield - 21 (vdV 9, Bale 7, Lennon 3, Modric 1, Huddlestone 1)

Forwards - 6 (Pavlyuchenko 5, Crouch 1)

Defence - 4 (Hutton 2, Kaboul 1, Bassong 1)

Skrtel - 1

Not really he plays behind our striker/strikers and is an attacking midfielder isn't he? His job is surely to create for our strikers and chip in with his fair share of goals.(which he has most definitely done)

Defoe will always play while Harry's around, he's his boy, He'd start him ahead of Ronaldo and Messi if they were here.

This.

Also, shadow of his former self or not Keane should have been rotated into the side in the league more often this year as Defoe and Crouch surely cannot justify their participation level in the PL. Keane may have added 3 or 4 extra for all we know and that, upon reflection, could have won us some games and have us in fourth.

Harry needs to swallow his pride a bit and realise that when hour favourites are not doing anything then you must be prepared to experiment with your other resources. Hutton is proof of this.

Gomes
Hutton Dawson Gallas Ekotto
Modric Huddlestone
Lennon Van Der Vaart Bale
Pavlyuchenko

Probably the best we could have right now.

Oh here we go again. "Defoe just needs a run in the team".

Why is Pav or Keane, or even Crouch not allowed this sentiment? They have one bad game and they are declared crap and not good enough...yet Defoe always gets the benefit of the doubt that he needs a run of games.

Defoe has simply not at any time during his spells at the club shown consistent, week in, week out form. He does not deserve to be playing at the highest level if it takes him half a dozen games to get going everytime he has been out for a little while.

But evidently not ahead of Crouch against United last Sunday.

Yeah well Him or Crouch, If we go and buy Suarez he'll still pick those 2 ahead of him

I think we need to accept that Defoe and Crouch will be our strikers for the next 6 years under Redknapp management, Unless Mourinho becomes available that is (which is quite possible)

Of course you have to include VDV with the forwards. We play 4-4-1-1 so he is effectively a support striker. The fact that he sits deeper doesn't really matter.

Breaking down the other 'Forwards' ;

Defoe's season has been plagued by injury, and he hasn't hit it off with VDV, who plays nearly every game. He doesn't suit the lone striker role. If we played a straight 4-4-2 with Crouch and Defoe, Defoe would obviously have scored a few, as they have shown to be an effective partnership in the past.

Keane has hardly played at all, so it's pointless mentioning his lack of goals.

Crouch has been awful no excuses from him. Although he chips in with the assists, he just doesn't score enough, or hasn't this season.

Pav has scored a few, and probably should be starting, but just goes missing for large periods of games.

We need to improve on all of them (except VDV, who i consider a forward based on where he is playing).
