Defoe has simply not at any time during his spells at the club shown consistent, week in, week out form. He does not deserve to be playing at the highest level if it takes him half a dozen games to get going everytime he has been out for a little while.

Same Defoe who has scored nearly 1 in 2 since his return from Portsmouth?

Yes the same Defoe who has been nothing short of shocking in the last 12 months. Can someone pull up the stat for how many league goals to games Defoe scored from 1st Jan 2010 to 31st December 2010 in the Premier League.

Of course you have to include VDV with the forwards. We play 4-4-1-1 so he is effectively a support striker. The fact that he sits deeper doesn't really matter.

With all due respect i started this thread to talk about our strikers not our forward players. There is a difference. If i wanted to talk about our forwards i would include VdV and others, which is why i didn't.

I think it's an important stat which needs addressing.

Oh look a thread saying our forwards aren't good enough, now where have I seen one of them before?

Well dont you think that he is very important in this discussion? As he takes up a position that would have been occupied by another striker in previous seasons. Of course the striker stats are lower all round as for the majority of the time 4 players are fighting for one position. He is playing in as a support striker/advanced playmaker and his stats should be included imo.

If We didn't have Bale and VDV scoring the vast majority of goals then we'd be in the bottom half of the table on our strikers current form, which is very disturbing and should not be taken lightly. Now with Bale out we might start to see how disturbing it can be.

Thank god for Lennon today.

Spurs strikers have scored a combined 6 premier league goals between them in 23 league games this season

Pav has scored 5 and crouch has got 1.

I honestly didn't think it would be this low, i am quite shocked.
We have relied too much this season on our midfielders to score.

I really hope we can bring in a quality striker this window so we can progress further. It's the only thing were missing, a striker who can find the net on a regular basis.

Lousy training, poor supply from midfield. No matter who is going to sign for us the end result will be the same.
