Stephen Carr was a brilliant full back and scored some fantastic goals for us. He was a fan favourite at the time, but because of the controversial way that he left he's become a bit of a forgotten man. Personally I didn't think he deserved a lot of the stick that he got so I've still got fond memories of his time at the club.
I remember him going to pull the trigger against Manchester united and thinking ''Don't shoot from there!' and then this happened....

I was always a fan of Simon Davies when I was a kid. Consistently decent and usually did his job. Seemed a good guy too.

Cant believe no one has mentioned Atouba. And im being serious. He had some crazy skills and was pure entertainment. We were all worried shit whenever he tried to dribble his way out from defence but honestly i dont recall any of his play leading to a goal by the opposition.

He was a character and a good one at that. And his brilliant goal against Newcastle is something i remember to this day.

Ziege was awesome, due to injury he only played about 3 games but he was real class. Not really underrated though.

As for regulars, I'd probably be looking at Naybet, he was perfect for us for a season just when we needed him and kick started our progession IMO.

As for all of you cocknockers saying Jenas I remember defending him back in the day and getting shouted down, and as for the guy who said Armstrong... please please just no.

He missed so so so many chances.

... We had him (Mendes), Carrick and then Davids later too. Made me wonder what the hell we’d been buying in previous years.

I'd tell you, but one or two folks are saying nice things about Michael Brown in here, and I don't want to step on any toes.

Loved Zokora mostly for the buzz of the ITK that summer. Lennon's Jet Boots iirc broke the news of the signing after meeting him personally. Happy days

Here goes. Sergei Rebrov.

A good footballer who had to play in a team that played hoofball and tried to put it on his head. In a different team he'd have nailed it I'm sure. With the ball at his feet he was excellent.

I liked Steffen Iversen too. I think our medical staff and training ruined him. Loads of injuries at that time. He was a good striker imo. A shame.

Atouba was atrocious, he may as well have played each game in oversized shoes, red nose, and massive green wig.

Sean Davis. Him and Mendes seemed to have a great understanding but it never really got a chance for one reason or another.

I think at that time we were going through a quick transitional period.

Arnesen said it was a struggle to attract players so a lot of purchases were transitional.

Davies, Edman, Pamarot, Mendes, Ziegler, Mido and others came in, did a job then were swiftly upgraded on once our reputation improved.

I remember watching him in our team, and he just looked about 2 or 3 moves ahead of the rest of the team. After playing alongside Schevchenko for the past few seasons, it's no surprise he struggled to get the same rapport going with... well, weren't all our strikers crocks then? Big Les, Iversen and Armstrong were knackered half the time.

Anyway, I loved Paul Allen when I was a kid. A proper right sided midfielder, with creativity and graft in his game, as well as the odd timely goal.

Also, from that era (as it was when I started supporting Spurs) can I make a call for Pat Van Den Hauwe? Absolute nails that bloke.

I've met Iversen several times in Norway and he'd be the first to admit that he himself was at least as culpable as the medical staff. He liked (and likes) a good party, he didn't always work hard and live well enough to stay fit and healthy.

He was really good when fit, though.
