Apparently that was Son's problem when he was out for a while.
Whilst painful, it is extremely treatable and certainly wouldn't be a barrier to long term physical activity.
Without getting into it, the right footwear, orthotics if required, potential steroid treatment, strapping/taping and exercises can all significantly help the pain, and solve the cause of the condition.
It is what Son had. I've had it on/Off for years.
There's no actual "cure" though. As you say, you just have to take care of it with proper stretching, footwear and technique.
I think Jordan Henderson had it for a long while. I'm surprised more footballers don't get it as football boots are just about the worst thing I've ever run in.
