I do like Harry.

He tried to battle Levy in the press and that was ultimately his downfall. I think he grew frustrated at his growing lack of influence in our transfer dealings just like Jol before him.

Oh we'll. AVB has overcome his earlier stutters and now looks the business. We are tragically short of a striker but then we wouldn't be Spurs without shooting ourselves in the foot.

Word on the grapevine was that it was Joe "the butcher" Lewis that gave H the old heave-ho and that DL got on quite well with H. What I've learned from that article does nothing to counter those whispers.

Lord knows how much abuse Harry would come in for here if he had been unsuccessful as Spurs manager.

I still miss his brand of football - a bit like his press comments in fact, a fair few gaffes, but always entertaining.

Harry had a massive fall out with joe Lewis.

Joe even hosted a big football gathering in London, inviting people like hoddle, graham and the like but not Harry!

Indeed. There are certain things that not only do I not miss but am relieved I no longer have to endure but H always seemed a likeable guy to me and, a few disappointing moments aside, the football and excitement he brought was way beyond anything I hoped he could bring. In fact, I didn't expect him to last more than a season, maybe 2, with us. Proved me wrong.

2 top 4 finishes were not something I thought H could achieve, even with a talented squad. His stock certainly rose with me during his time here.

Anyways, water under the bridge now. Very impressed with the start AVB has had with us and I wish H all the best, wherever he goes.

Life is good. Ramos is nowhere near our club. Happy days.

I love the bit when Harry says "the FA won't say it, and I won't say it either" after just having said exactly it! Classic Redknapp!

He was good for the club, no doubt, but stuff like this makes me not worry about the fact that he left.

Ta for more of the detail, ryan. Certainly what you and others privy to certain info have said since before H even was officially axed was the DL was not the main driving force behind it. Not initially anyway.

Ah well. All in the past now. We achieved more as a club, in the league anyway, under H than any other manager I've seen with my own eyes. So, Gawd bless the little scamp.

Haha

He has been international manager a couple of time and done relatively well but he isnt a good tactician. He sets up his team defensively very well, before england anyway.

As for highly thought of in the game, he isnt. People like him because he is a very nice person and well thought but dont rate him highly. Inter fans hated him tbh but he has a brilliant relationship with Moratti, which was why he was hired as a DOF. He is a joke in Italy, at a press conference in Italy they laughed him off when he was hired as manager as Udinese after he told them to fuck off, apparently. They laughed at England when he was hired as our manager.

He made alot of mistakes at Inter including a high profile one with a young LB telling the president, he will never be good enough to play in Europe as a defender and they should try to sell him ASAP, he then became the best LB in his Era only second to Maldini who was a CB at that point.
He is credited with transforming Swedish football and bringing in zonal marking for the first time. He got Switzerland to world cup and the Euros. When he took over at Inter they were bottom of the league, he got them to seventh and the next season they were third and got to the final of the Uefa cup. You don't get to be manager of inter or director of football by being a nice guy and if it is true Inter fans hate him then it says more about Inter fans than his ability as a coach. He got Fulham to the final of the Europa cup. He's made mistakes, so has Redknapp, every manager does.

Do you think Redknapp is more qualified to be England manager? If so why?

As usual blaming something else for his own faults, he was never going to get the England job and despite the FA saying that Roy was the only choice he spouts his usual bullshit.

http://www.sportsmole.co.uk/footbal...urs-for-missing-out-on-england-job_77730.html

Yup

Brooking & co. stated that RatKnip was never considered.
He was sneaking around in the Middle-East way before he was fired, so to claim that he was all of a sudden offered a job out there is, to put it politely, being economical with the truth.
Not only do him and his lawyers need to learn to read if they really missed a clause in his contract requiring a large release fee, but, in fact, it was common knowledge on these forums a long time ago - I smell BS.
He constantly makes claims about not bearing grudges, but he needs to let this one go - he overplayed his hand and he lost focus on the team at the same time /of.

Harry suggested that a certain group of people were sticking together becaus that's what they have always done.

You need to read between the lines

Harry did a great job at Spurs, no doubt about it.
He also had a great job at Spurs that he took for granted.
He's now got a bad job and I believe AVB will move our club forward.
Let Harry mouth away in the background and move on.
I'll just take the great memories I have from the last few seasons and forget about any personality problems that Harry has.
