Sorry mate I disagree with you there are a number of older fans who don't hold the FA cup in higher esteem any more at the same token their are younger fans who would love to win the FA cup. We don't have any affinity with the CL really, we've only been in it once in our history.
I'm not stating it as a conclusive rule - just something that I personally believe will be the case more often than not

I'm old enough to remember the fa cup victory over forest, old enough to remember when it was something special to the club that we held the record number of fa cup wins and I'm old enough to remember when the fa cup final was the biggest football fixture of the UK sporting Calender (English clubs were banned from Europe and cup final day captured the interest of all fans for the whole day not just 90mins and not just fans of the teams involved and a smaller percentage of General football fans who watch regardless of who's involved )

I agree it's not as simplistic as saying old fans will still have an affinity to the cup and Young fans won't - that wasn't really what I meant to suggest. Indeed my own dad who is in his late 50s and has seen the cup finals of the 70s and 80s as well has lost interest I'm the fa cup and would rather us be in the champions league - equally I am sure there are fans who grew up watching champions league football who still believe In the magic of the fa cup' have seen all the videos and view the FA cup as special

I am just saying that In my personal opinion an older fan who grew up watching us winning the trophy and remembers the FA cup from its hey day as being every bit as important as the league title is more likely to still hold the cup I'm higher regard and the younger fan raised I'm the champions league era and having never watched us contest a fa cup final is less likely to have that affinity and view the FA cup as special and more likely to view the champions league as the place to be as that's how it's generally presented by sky and the football media now days

That's been my experience from observation of people I know and speak to and that is my personal opinion on the situation - I completely understand you disagreeing if you're personal experience of that situation contrasts mine
