There is some quite big Bentley news about to break...all the details in the morning if they have not appeared in black and white in the People.

Call it a plug or a tease, I'm not caring.

Offski, then. To us?

Either us or Liverpool imo surely they are the only two clubs he could go to/would be prepared to pay silly money

This should be in the Spurs chat. After all we are linked with Bentley

I considered putting it there but it's so vague I thought it'd probably be moved here. If the powers-that-be think it would be better there then by all means. If it's not Spurs-related news it can be moved back in the morning when the story breaks.

Certainly wouldn't mind seeing Bentley in our midfield next season along with Modric creating stack loads of chances for Keano and another!

If it is us he's linked with, I don't want us to pay stupid amounts of money for him when we have Lennon. Look to buy players in positions we need.

There was talks that we woudlnt pay the 15million blackburn wanted for him, so unless they have droped there price, or we have agreed a swap deal with them (cant think who we would be able to pass off to them though) i cant see it being us he will go too. Wouldnt ahve minded seeing him in a spurs shit, but cant see it happening

Lennon is more exciting to watch, and with Modric pulling the strings, should be much more effective next season.

This guy Nixon was suggesting Huddlestone may be offered up to Blackburn. There's a thread in Spurs Chat somewhere on it.

The Rumours Forum is not far from opening so we can tidy it all up then.

Yeah it was me that posted the Nixon info before (a couple of times in fact), generally he will break stories on a Blackburn fan forum the day before one of his stories drops - presumably no earlier because he doesn't want to lose out on the chance to have 'EXCLUSIVE' splashed across the top of it.

Whenever I get wind of anything he's saying, I'll post it on here I suppose. Latest info on this one is a little less exciting from our POV, points to it maybe being Bentley saying he wants to stay:

I've been working on this one for about a week and thought it would be better for the People than thrown away in the Mirror who are obsessed with title races and relegation fights.

It's a story that needs to be told in full.

So if there is anything missing in the morning I will fill in the gaps.

Bit disappointing in the end, not exactly a non-story but it's hardly massive.

WAR OF THE ROVERS... Rovers ulitmatum for rebel Bentley
EXCLUSIVE
By Alan Nixon

Blackburn will tell England star David Bentley to sign a new mega-bucks deal this week - or leave in one of the summer's biggest sales.

Bentley has angered boss Mark Hughes and chairman John Williams by stalling on a new longterm £50,000-a-week contract.

Now, with rumours of Chelsea interest, Hughes and Williams have ordered Bentley to put pen to paper or the offer will be withdrawn immediately.

Rovers hope the ultimatum will bring Bentley to his senses as he still has three years left on his current £20,000-a-week deal. Each week he stalls on signing he loses £30,000 in wages.

The talks have been going on for months, but early optimism about it being sealed have turned to anger at the highest levels at Ewood Park.

There have been growing reports of Bentley being unsettled. The club is aware he has recently been telling people he was on his way to Liverpool.

Unhappy fans have also reported back to the club that Bentley has been mouthing off about his future, a lack of respect that is troubling a lot of people at the club.

However Chelsea are emerging as the club most likely to move. Although I can reveal that Bentley is not even top of their summer hit list - and at £15 million there are doubts within Stamford Bridge about his value .

With Bentley on his long term deal Rovers will hold out for the money. The fact that they have issued their ultimatum shows they are ready to play hard-ball.

We should buy Sebastian Larsson instead. If he was English he'd be rated so highly, but because he's Swedish and had to drop down to the Championship for a season, he gets largelly ignored. Bentley would cost £15 million plus, whilst Larsson would cost under £5 million. There really isn't much between them other than one has media hype and recognition (that comes form being young and English), whilst the other doesn't. Both are excellent players, but Larsson would be far better value.

This just got more interesting again, Nixon:

My info since last January was that he was likely to sign - the only delay was this problem of paying the agents fees in the wages - but in recent weeks there has been a change from the player himself.

Bentley and his agents now think Chelsea want him. I have my doubts, but there you go.

I hear Chelsea's priorities are Aguero and Schweinsteiger for the right-side role.

Aguero will cost a fortune and that might be too hard. I don't know Schweinsteiger's price. So it's going to be a wait for them to come round to Bentley in my opinion.

From what I hear Liverpool prefer Valencia because he is quicker. But he may go to Man U instead - and, no, I don't know why they like him so much.

On a different note Steve Coppell will leave Reading...probably tomorrow.
