Routledge off to Celtic on season long loan deal and Ghaly just off somewhere abroad. The independent online just put it up

Really? Can't find it there, or anywhere else.

noodles has posted a bastardised version of My Way on FTL, making it clear that Levy is selling out.

think we've got to face facts -

board wanted Jol out

BMJ said he was happy with the squad, and that it was good enough for top 4

so they decided not to give him any more dosh, and let hang by the rope he'd put round his neck

the problem is, the lack of cover/strength on left and centre means that the club will not develop as it should - it would appear the boards aim is to get rid of BMJ not progression

if BMJ fails it means the club has failed and will have moved backwards after years of progress, and we can expect departure of plyers like Berbs

can the board really be that shortsighted? share prices will fall, value of the club drops which directly affects them

so perhaps noodles is right in that Levy is looking for an out quick - before the wheels fall off

I doubt if we would have made top 4 this season anyway - not getting in a top class CM makes that pretty much a certainty for me.

I'll go for us to finish 7th this season, here's hoping for a Cup win, which is well possible with our squad :)

Without being rude, I don't think any of that is "fact". More conjecture, and specifically your conjecture.

And the accuracy of it is questionable to say the least.

If the board wanted Jol out they would have got rid of him before the season starts. But, oh, wait, they gave him £38 million pounds - our biggest ever net spend during a window - to strengthen the squad.

We've bought the best young left-back in the country - who can play left wing, we've bought the highest scoring English striker for the last couple of seasons, the French U-21 captain and Germany's best young player of last season.

And resigning players on longer contracts, and making Taarabt's move permanent, along with a few other kids along the way.

Hardly a vote of no confidence is it?

And if anyone can find a player to fit the left wing slot, that's affordable and the quality we require as a first stage then you're doing well. You've then got to factor in that the club that owns this player may not want to let him go for love nor money. Then you've got to factor in whether the player himself wants to move. And then we've got to see if we can pay him the right amount to convince him to move.

Some of you seem to forget the complexity involved in agreeing a transfer of player, and take it as a given that all players automatically want to play for Spurs - just because we do, doesn't mean everyone else does. So stop with propaganda-ring of conjecture as fact, it's wrong and I won't see it unchallenged.

The issue has always been whether the players signed were the ones Jol actually wanted, so the fact that we spent £38 million is not really evidence of he Board's support for Jol. There is no doubt that Jol rates Bent, but the suggestion was that a forward was not his top priority. Similarly Bale may be promising but he is 17 and the suggestion has been that Jol wanted someone with more experience. As for Boateng there have been several threads on the significance of the award he won, and it certainly does not mean he was the best young player in the Germany last season.

If there was any doubt as to whether that the smoke coming out of White Hart Lane signified an actual fire the Board's hamfisted statement put the matter beyond question. The impression created was that in order to keep his job Jol was obliged to sign up to a statement saying that he was happy with the squad. From which some might infer that he is anything but.

Are they all not Spurs players - shortlisted by Comolli, agreed by Jol and purchased by Levy? This is the only way this system can (and does) work. Surely??!?

I wouldn't say that - if you see how the players all rallied behind Jol, then it's difficult to argue that it's not his squad. I think he's happy with the youngsters - and he's explained many times that we can't go out and buy Ronaldinho, instead we have to buy young and hope they blossom, with a little coaching help along the way.

I think Jol has known that for a while, as have the rest of the club. It just takes the fans a while to cotton on to that idea. And, alas, it seems the media never will.

I am not suggesting that Jol objected to any of the signings. It is just a question of whether the Board delivered on his priorities for strengthening the squad

I do sometimes wonder at Jol's commitment to developing young players, given his tendency to play experienced players out of position rather than promote a reserve, but yes I am sure he is signed up to the policy in the prinicple. I think the concern is that Board have a rigid policy of only buying young players with a sell on value.

Oh, and by the way great work with the Transfer Forum.

So I take it we haven't slyly signed a top class player without any news agency reporting it and the website forgetting to say so? No? Oh well...

Until January then chaps... have a good Christmas.
