And Chelski are really going to swap Anelka after just buying him in january arent they, not to mention they were determind to get him and it wouldnt look good on his part to go to yet another club, when he stated he wanted CL football and was delighted to finally be at Chelski. Sorry dont make sense. Yes Drogba and Shevchenko could be off, which i might add limits Berbas destination, but why would they also get shot of anelka.

sounds like the dumbest deal ever.

berba is a million times better than anelka, was is, or ever will be and SWP is inconsistent.

only if the wedge of cash is £40 mill would i consider it (if i were levy)

Biggest load of bollocks that I have ever heard!
Sorry but I really can't see any player being totally motivated to come to us as part of a swap -that goes for Eto' too!
Sell Berbatov for cash and bring in hungry players who want the challenge!

I'd take SWP definitely. He's got a much better delivery than Lennon and seems to go past people the same amount. Would be good to have the two to choose from.

As for Anelka he's a good striker and people saying 'he's shit' are being ridiculous. But the problem is that he's an entirely different player and we'd need someone to play alongside him who can hold the ball up. So we'd end up With Anelka, Bent and Keane upfront and nobody to play with any of them.

Ultimately though I suspect this deal is highly highly unlikely.

Na that'd be an awsome deal. SWP is a top top class winger and playing regularly gets about 8 assists and 10 goals. This is the kind of form he had with Man.City and could easily replecate playing week in week out with us.

Anelka is getting on a little bit, not sure how old exactly my guess is 29 but still thats only slightly older than Berbatov, he's an ex-gooner so to see him do well for us would be nice, he was fantastic for Bolton who are far less creative than we are, he is experience in the prem league and has a good turn of pace. + CASH FFS this deal would pretty much complete our squad and we'd get a few mil.

We'd be saying Berbatov who?

o and this will never EVER happen. Especially not this summer!

However rather he didn't go to Chelsea!

Anyone saying Anelka is shit is a mug. Anelka would be an ideal signing. In some ways he is even better suited to playing ahead of Modric than Berbatov (although Berbatov would be good too obviously). He works harder and is quicker than Berbatov. Skillfull as well and a decent finisher. He has proved at Bolton that there isnothing wrong with his work ethic or attitude. We could also do worse than sign Crouch as well. This would give us a good selection of options up front. SWP doesn't exactly excite me but if Lennons off (rumours ?) his a good hard working rm/rw who will bomb forward but also put a back shift in too. Plus cash. I'd take this deal all day long.

Luke, sorry, but you've departed from reality here. Check:

http://telegraph.jumpmediagroup.com/PlayerStat.aspx?p1id=5127&p2id=3789

and:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ma...rid=F17&targetRule=10&team=8&teamname=Chelsea

There's an entirely believable theory that Chelsea signed Sweepy and paid him silly money in order to deny him to rivals; whether that's true or not, there's no doubt they've severely retarded his development as a player—his old man's said that. There were very strong rumours that we were interested in him last summer; these may have been bollocks, but I'm pretty sure Jol was a big fan.

Whatever, I don't think we should be taking a player who is clearly surplus to requirements in part-exchange for Berbatov.

The Chavs want rid of Anelka after half-a-season? Seriously? And even if there is any foundation to this, do we really want a player who's nearly 30, and could get bored after a season? I think not. Bent may not have the same quality, but he'll bang them in just as well, given a fair crack of the whip.

Interesting:

"We are sorry but Dimitar Berbatov Special is no longer available for betting. Why not have a bet on one of the following events instead?"

http://www.sportingbet.com/Football...itar-Berbatov-Special/ECMARKET/102/201241/102

They don't accept bets about Berbatov's future club any more. Precaution?

they stopped taking bets on harry for bar codes in january and that happened did it not?

berba will go but only for a lot of money swap deals for has beens and never will be's? No

if this true ..

even if Chelsea offered £15m plus these two players, they are laughing at us, SWP is one they want to sell and Anelka is 29 and not that good for them, so they are paying £15m to get one of the best strikers in Europe ( that's if they will £15m with these over-rated players ! )

If it's English club ( Man Utd - Chelsea )

Man Utd : Carrick or Nani plus £20m
Chelsea: Joe Cole plus £20m

too much, but they want our best players and we want top 4 !

we should tell them, that offer or we will sell him abroad.

I think people have been acting pretty illogical over the Berbatov transfer regarding a few recurring points.

Why would it be bad to sell Berbatov to Man Utd or Chelsea? We won't even come close to them in the league for at least a few years and if we ever do, Berbatov will be retired by then. OK, so we play him two times in a year, oh boy, he also plays every other team in the league twice so it balances out. He'll beat up on Arsenal and Liverpool (selling Berbatov to one of these two WOULD be a disaster) just as much as he'll beat up on Spurs. If we have an offer of 30 million from Chelsea and 20 million from AC Milan, Levy will take the extra ten million.

We probably ARE looking for a swap as well. OK so we sell Berbatov for 35 million pounds, now every team we do business with is going to inflate their selling prices by at least a few million knowing we have a very large budget to work with.

Also we aren't handcuffed at all by any club regarding Berbatov's transfer unless he outright comes out and says "Sell me or I won't play". Which he won't because that's so Un-Berbatov I can't even imagine it. So basically if Spurs sell, it will be completely for whatever they wanted after hearing out every single offer they could. If no offer meets their valuation of Berbatov, then he stays. If an offer that's good enough comes in, he goes. I don't think Anelka and SWP improve our team enough (over Bent and Lennon) for this to be an acceptable offer. Especially at such an early stage where we haven't seen what else we might be offered.

Has anybody noted that swaps almost never happen and that ITK regarding swaps almost always turns out to be shite?

Yes?

Well, note it again.

Not that your scenario is a bad one, Carrick plus £20mil is enough to brighten anyone's day, but I'd rather we sold him abroad just so we don't have to play against him (if we have to sell him, of course)...

...however, I wouldn't mind playing against him and Milan in the UEFA Cup. :)

Both good players but I'd prefer SWP out of the two. I agree that Bent could do as well as Anelka given the chance, and he did last season in fact, playing for a team lower in the table too. If we were to put that proportion of the 'swap cash' on Anelka I'd rather we offer Blackburn 15m for Santa Cruz instead.

SWP though I get the feeling would fit straight in, he's going to chomping at the bit for a good run in a team and he and Lennon would be great to have together in the squad. They're different enough to be able trouble fullbacks and could easily play on the same team swapping flanks and taking turns in the hole. IMO they'd both improve playing for the same team.

SWP's game, as previously mentioned, has been killed by Chelsea, especially since Robben and any kind of dynamic attacking they had left, and I think he'd love the football we try and play. He's great at spotting a through ball down the flank, over the top or through the middle and has a lot more maturity to his game than Lennon does whereas Lennon has the potential to be the better player in the long run.

Plus Keegan would be even more pissed off with us. ;)

if we sell to chelsea we are shooting ourselves in the foot...

we dont make teams around us better by giving them our best players..

it is not rocket science we either sell to a team abroad or he stays and sees out his contract, i would take 4 more years of berbatov and then let him go for free.

it seems like carrick all over again

HEAD, we would be shooting ourselves in the HEAD!
We shoot ourselves in the foot if we keep him, he does not want to be here, so let the sulky fucker go, abroad, for as much as we can get for him!

Quite. He's a top-quality striker. But there are major doubts as to what goes on inside his head, and just why would Chelsea want to get rid of him after less than six months, especially with the rumours that Drogba and Sheva are off?

I like SWP, too.

But the bottom line of this is, they're supposedly offering us two players they feel are surplus to requirements for our best player. My response would consist of two words, the second of which would be 'off'. Offer us Cole and Essien/Ballack, you might be talking.
