There will be a lot of second hand rose tinted specs going on ebay when Ronnie joins someone else and this thread is locked.

City hold Ronaldinho talks - sky sports

Executive director claims discussions have taken place

Manchester City executive director Taweesuk Jack Srisumrid has claimed that the club have held talks over a deal for Barcelona star Ronaldinho.

The 28-year-old Brazilian appeared to be set for a summer transfer to Serie A side Milan, however reports claim a deal has stalled.

City have also been linked with the former World Player of the Year, but manager Sven Goran Eriksson has been keen to delay talk of a move until the season has concluded.

However, it is reported in Tuesday's press that Ronaldinho's brother and agent Roberto de Assis met with Taweesuk over a deal.

Galacticos

"What we will look to do in the summer is to further boost the squad, bring in top-quality, internationally recognised players," Taweesuk told The Daily Telegraph.

"Superstars would help fill the stadium and help our global branding. Primarily, we must win on the pitch - it can't be a gimmick.

"We've had discussions [with Ronaldinho] but we'll see how that pans out.

"We've looked at a host of players. Man City having discussions with superstar players used to be unimaginable, but not now.

"It won't be a galacticos strategy, but older famous names. We want to build around the team we have."

Eek

Hey DC :hello:, hmmm ok I'll go for an alternate one...

Kameni (or Gomes)

Hutton Woodgate Ben Haim Shorey

Lennon Jenas / Poulsen Diarra Ronaldinho (Capel! :hump:)

Berbatov Keane

Now that's just creepy - I stick Ben Haim in my team for next season thinking he'd be a jolly decent buy and then we end up being linked with him...

Wooooo Eek

Wouldn't be surprised if the ITK's for real, we have a long history of attempting to sign unsettled superstars, whom use the club to fish for bigger offers from bigger clubs, on top of that I think we'd be unwilling to pay his wage demands.
If he does join at 28, I don't think he's past it, just think he's suffered from form since th last world cup, and a new club, without the pressure of the catalan nation, would do him good.

Theres only one thing I'm worried about, although Ronnnie plays on the left of a 433, he does not work hard enough or track back enough to play as a left winger in a 442, and in a 442 I'd imagine he'd play as a deep striker. If we're looking to possibbly spend that much money on that position it looks like the club is mooting around for somebody to take over the position that Berbatov curretly fulfils. And in the end we'll probably end up with neither.

Saying that if were going into fantasy football manager territory

Robinson
Hutton Woodgate King Bale
Huddlestone
Jenas Zokora
Lennon/Keane Ronaldinho
Berbatov

Saying that, ramos appears to be a 442 man so in reality its unlikely to happen.

Certainly we're not just going to sign Ronnie alone. We'll have to have two other midfielders and a goalie. We may not have to have a new CD if King is alright.

No, Learnt is traditional English, learned is the american bastardisation

Both have been in English for ages. Neither came from America. Both are in common usage, and only a pedant of the highest order would object to either.

But at least the conversation in this thread has moved on to more pressing matters than Ronaldinho.
