Finishing forth is all about getting 70+pts imo....

Ever since I saw Stefan Iversen lob the winner at Selhurst Park to take us through to the 99 Worthington Cup final, I have always been an optimist. But now I'm stuggling to see us get forth.

Ok I have been as generous but as realistic as possible. If the results fall this way(unless I have done something wrong...let me know!), we will finish 1pt behind City. Where else can City realisticly drop points? I know it has been a crazy league so anything can happen...

I know this has ben done tons of times but have a look and see what you think. Wigan on Saturday is so fucking important.

Spurs

Wigan A W
Stoke H W
Arsenal H W
West B H W
Chelsea A L
Blackpool H W
Man City A D
Liverpool A D
Birmingham H W

Man City

Sunderland H W
Liverpool A L
Blackburn A W
Westham H W
Everton A W
Spurs H D
Bolton A D

So winning 6 out of 9 and ending with 69 pts will be tough(*snigger... 69*) but like wise for City getting a win at Everton will be tough plus Satudays game against Sunderland will be no walk in the park.

It just goes to show how close this will be. Liverpool and City games are going to be crucial if we are going to break the 70 pt mark.

Come on help me believe!!

Well for starters you have them winning away at Blackburn and Everton. the former won't be easy, Everton are one of their bogey teams home and away. One point at the most from those two games, especially as City are yet to win away in 2011.

You've got City down as getting 3 points against themselves & I think you've spelt fourth wrong. Apart from that I agree we've got a tough run in, just like last year, but we always seem to get up for the bigger games so I still think we've got a chance.

But it's not...it's about getting one morre point, or even finishing with better goal difference on the smae points, than the team in 5th:roll:

At the end of the day we'll need to beat them in their own back yard, thats what it will come down to I reckon.

We are better away from home these days but they're difficult to break down, make no mistake about it.

They'll be able to play for the draw but the fact that we need to win could well play into our hands.

...Which is going to take at least 70pts I think.

Sadly goal difference wont come into it as ours is shocking.

Yes, I understood the first time.

If you finish on 69 points and the team in 5th finishes on 68, or (unlikely as it might be), 69 points and an inferior goal difference, we will have qualified on 69 points.

So, really what you are saying is that it might require 70 points, and not that it will require 70 poits. In other words, you have made a thread (which you are perfectly entitled to do), to tell us that your opinion is that we might need 70 poits to get 4th:-|

Yep thats exactly what I'm saying, 70pts is a good marker for us I reckon.

I am:grin:

Like I said, I don't really care how many points we get...as long as it takes us back into the CL.
And I still believe anything between 2nd and 6th is possible. But I don't rate Citeh as highly as some on here.

Everyone suggesting we will beat Arsenal at home makes me nervous. I know we have beaten Ar5ene1 twice in a row (in the league), but this game could go either way. Its all about who takes their chances, and on that basis i would not put us down for a win.

I think it is far more likely we will win at Chelsea as we can out compete them and restrict their play. This is far more difficult against the s**m.

Yeah true.

The game that makes me the most nervous is Wigan away, we need that to get this ball rolling.

Shit pitch, cl game on Tues, probably a fairly make shift team(who knows)...I'm going to have to have a few beers whilst I watch the scores come in

They've just had their pitch relaid - a few weeks ago. Its like a bowling green, should suit us well. Nothing like Wolves away thank God.

Which makes me even more annoyed about the points we spunked away recently against Blackpool, Wolves, West Ham as well as previously against Sunderland and Wigan at home. I bet all those games were a "W" in other people's predicted scores!!

We have to finish the season as we did last and hope that the teams around us drop points. I think we will lose away to Liverpool and maybe drop some other points so that instead of getting 20 points as you predict, we will get less. I hope i am wrong.

Yes the saturday game is a must win, but with one eye on next Tuesday i have a horrible feeling. As for City i think they will spank Sunderland on Sunday. Squeaky bum time will be an understatement!

I agree but I really do think City are dodgy and will drop points too. If Defoe and others start to fire and we become more clinical its so possible.

City will drop points, as will Chelsea and Arsenal.

I don't know why everyone expects City to win every game all the time. They're far from convincing and they most definitely don't have the balls to go out and win big games.
