Have a decent run between now and the new year and we're anything but finished.

Some people are being so dramatic at the moment, we need a manager for sure and it would help massively if we get one who delivers, but one thing is for sure and that is whoever we appoint will inherit a squad with a lot of very good players.

We are far from doomed and it's far from all over!

I think the criticisms of Sherwood are unnecessary. He had less than 48 hours to prepare for that game. You can hardly judge him. Besides we were 1-0 up until the 80th minute so it wasn't like he had a total mare.

More worryingly, our squad is completely ravaged by injury. I mean Paulinho, Vertonghen, Townsend and Kaboul are all out for at least the next few weeks. Then Rose, Eriksen and Adebayor still need to gain match fitness. Not an easy way for any manager to start let alone the circumstances surrounding the club at the moment.

Also Sherwood's point that we seemed to run out of steam is difficult to argue with, we looked absolutely fucked in the last 15, that would be down to who?

We simply didn't look fit enough late on to be involved in a 90 minute high tempo game of football.

That's only because we used possession so badly.

But hey people ran really fast down the wings a tonne of times so it's happy days right?!

Can we please grow a set of balls????
we keep doing that and they keep cutting them off. I know that some people are happy because they got what they wanted on Monday but whatever our aim for the season was its gone now, it takes balls to admit that though.

No one is fit enough to play a low defensive line, high pressure, constant attacking and 4-4-2.
It's bloody hopeless.

I know it cliched but it's true it's not about how much of the ball you have but what you do with it that counts and yesterday was a prime example of doing nothing with all the possession we had.

Look it was from a perfect performance and we have a long long way to go to sort out this mess we are in, but surely to God we've just witnessed 4 months of doing nothing with all of the possession we've had, hence why we have such a pathetic goals for column that has 5 goals from open play in 9 home games after dominating possession in most of them?

No people aren't happy and rightly so and it had nothing to do with running fast, we've spent all season game after game using possession badly.

I don't know if this is the right thread to post this in but play like we did last night and this season will be a nightmare. It's a good job Spammers decide to play conservatively for the first hour because once we scored we did nt get a kick so looking doomed is a real conclusion from that game

But Sherwood picked a side for the cup game I am sure. Not even he would believe Dembele and Sigurdsson were the best 2CM's in the club

It is now all about who can pick up the players and fans

The manager is one place Levy will have to spend money not on some fancy dan play in January

Edit
There were some positives last night. a more high tempo performance

I didn't want him gone but I see why he went, objectives and targets change. It's time to regroup, get behind the team and give them the support they need. We have 3 winnable games over Christmas and I for one refuse to lie down and think it's all over. No doubt mistakes have been made at board level but there's fuck all we can do about it. Chin up lads.

Higher tempo might be a positive if you take it in complete isolation from everything else, but unfortunately it didn't come alone. We were never in control of the game. For all our fast running and taking on the full backs West Ham were always comfortable. It took 30 mins to get a shot on goal which was essentially a pass back. Every corner was a pass to the keeper, and we made ourselves stupidly vulnerable at the back.

But for all the running around we still didn't really create that many clear cut chances or cut West Ham open at will.

Yes it will take time but we shouldn't be giving Tim Sherwood that time.

The worst thing (for me), is that we can no longer cling to the crumb of comfort of being a Proper Football club, not tring to buy success; it's exactly what we're trying to do, and we're failing miserably. We've also lost any chance, at least in the medium-term of creating som kind of legacy wit our management. Whatever the rights and wrongs of AVB as a manager, you get the impression he would stick around and try to create something special. Now all we'll get is another short-term big-bucks appointment that will ultimately end in Levy waving his cock around in trigger-happy frenzy that we're all getting used to. Another bit of the soul is gone.

Putting out a team with lots of running but no guile will get us nowhere. We need a proper coach who will persevere with the likes of Lamela, Eriksen, Soldado and create a side. I still believe we have the players to make top four and look at the table to find we are only 8pts off the top spot yet have had a rubbish last couple of months

Exactly this. We need to get a grip. We've lost a few games, we're still in the hunt in the League.

We've lost games we shouldn't have, or lost by more than we should. It's not the end of the world. Not even the end of our season. We'll finish in the top 6. How high depends on many factors now, and even if we don't make CL? Who gives a shit! We'll have another go next year. Like Liverpool and Everton are doing this season, without any CL between them for years.

This isn't anywhere near as bad as 2 points/8 games, for example. Waving the white flag now, as supporters, is embarrassing.

Did you hear Sherwood's comment after the game which was along the lines of the players need to realise when to up the tempo and when to slow it and that on occasions when we have possession we need to take the opportunity to rest, and that we shouldn't be looking to score every time we have the ball?

I make him 100% right and I think Sherwood & Ramsey though much derided in the last few says aren't the idiots some are making out, they are fully aware that you can't play 100mph for 90 minutes, that said we did also look pretty short on our fitness levels.

We have the player's to move on and up.
