Exactly this. We need to get a grip. We've lost a few games, we're still in the hunt in the League.

We've lost games we shouldn't have, or lost by more than we should. It's not the end of the world. Not even the end of our season. We'll finish in the top 6. How high depends on many factors now, and even if we don't make CL? Who gives a shit! We'll have another go next year. Like Liverpool and Everton are doing this season, without any CL between them for years.

This isn't anywhere near as bad as 2 points/8 games, for example. Waving the white flag now, as supporters, is embarrassing.

Couldn't agree more, things can change very quickly in this game!

Totally agree, us Spurs fans have an awful habit of becoming lame ducks when things don't go our way.

it looks like the next manager is Sherwood... and then we are fucking doomed

Why does it?

Sherwood gave an interview last night saying the club are looking for a top manager, talking to people and he doesn't even know if he'll be in charge on Sunday.

I know it cliched but it's true it's not about how much of the ball you have but what you do with it that counts and yesterday was a prime example of doing nothing with all the possession we had.

It's a habit we've got into this season.

Reports he's agreed to sign for Netherlands. Not sure if its pre or post WC however. I'd want de Boer though. Only catch is he'd probably only come with that c*nt Bergkamp.

I want de Boer too..& the way I feel right now, if he brought Bergkamp with him (a signing Sugar apparently turned down when slowly strangling the life out of our club) & the pair of 'em brought us success I'd be absolutely delighted.

Guys, it was over years ago.

We needed to invest once we reached the Champions League.

We had several truly world class players on average wages who were carrying the side. The only way to have kept them happy was to build the team around them and stay in the Champions League.

I agree. We don't seem to know when we need to up the tempo of our play. It's the change in tempo that tends to cut teams open. Going from a slower tempo to a much quicker tempo tends to keeps defenses off balance and we would become less predictable.

He then went on to say that it's important that they get somebody who fits the culture of the club etc, so was talking about the club looking to make an appointment.

I don't think Sherwood even wants the job, he was apparently starting training with the development squad Monday morning when he was asked to take the first team instead, so it seems there was no plan in place for Sherwood to be running the side and it seems he's doing little more than helping out. Sherwood has a good gig at Spurs and probably has a job for a long time ahead of him, I'm not sure he wants to risk all that for something which could only last until the summer.

Why is it over?

Only 4 teams can qualify for the CL, should everybody else just throw the towel in like you have?

Modric used to dictate our tempo.

Do you think any decent manager would want to come with our crock of shit players. I am being serious Apart from Lloris our total squad is average. Nice bunch of lads but not up to it sorry. Maybe in 5 years but not now in the immediate present

As pointed out above, 2 points from 8 games was worse. It is pretty bloody awful at the moment. I didn't want to go last night, which is very rare, went anyway, to witness another poor performance.

We can turn it around with the right man in charge- look how quickly Harry rescued the situation

We need someone who recognises managing Spurs as a great opportunity and can change the mood in the dressing room quickly
but there doesn't appear to be any right man out there, just some imperfect choices who may or may not be useful.

I don't play for Tottenham so I can't throw in the towel. I don't think you understand the thread. This is about a golden period where we played amazing football with world class players and looked like we could potentially go all the way.

That golden period is over and wasn't sustainable without a larger stadium and higher wages.

We are beginning a new era now which exciting. I fully expect the team to blossom now AVB has gone. That doesn't mean it's not right to recognise we are starting again and other clubs have caught up.
