I guess a lot will depend on where Brentford are at in January. If they are having a good season and there attackers are scoring plenty then maybe they will be open to selling Toney.

but if they are struggling for goals and points and somewhere near the bottom of the table I don’t see them selling half way through a season

Brentford won't sell now then will ask for something mad like 80-100m in Jan.

If they valued one year contract Raya at 40 they'll be valuing a 20 goal English striker at double (at least).

He is the safest option IMO

Think he is good for 15-20 goals a season

No or little resale value means unlikely to happen

Their bluff was called on Raya and they ended up getting fucked on the deal.

Reckon that experience will have them being a slight bit more realistic with the Toney fee.

At least if we got Toney penalties would still be a near guaranteed goal like they were with Kane.

His record is even better!

Yeah true but top level number 9s are so scarce these days they'll definitely try their luck. The English/homegrown element alone will add 20m to his asking price.

An intriguing option as more of a like-for-like replacement for Kane, certainly in terms of the goals he could contribute, is Ivan Toney. An additional part of the logic of not rushing to bring in a first-choice striker now is that it might open the door to a move for Toney in January. This has been discussed internally and is an option being considered for when he returns and is back up to full speed after his ban.
Perfect excuse for Levy not to sign a striker. Then come January guess what we don't sign a striker. Usual bullshit excuses!!

Daniel Levy: How can we avoid signing a striker this summer?

I know, let's say we're really interested in one that is only available in January. Then, and this is the good part, when January comes we just say that 'we tried'. Hey presto, we haven't had to spend for a whole year!

I am a transfer genius.

COYS, Daniel.
Didn't see this post and mentioned the same. How predictable is Levy we all know his games!

Plan A - Orban for £30m after messing around with £15m offers until deadline day.

Plan B January - Plan A + Richalison turn out to not be as good as Kane. Pump the money on Toney

Plan A should really be buy a top striker now to challenge Richarlison

There's no striker with a pedigree better than Richarlison who wants to come to Spurs and who we could purchase, I'd hazard.

We're not signing a player now who can't play until January. If we go for him it will be in January.

We will see wouldn't suprise me one bit be a typical Levy move.
Would it? When have we done this?

If you said we will probably spend the kane money on 3 or 4 opportunities, rather than 1 or 2 actual needs, then that would be a fair comment.

You know there is a Levy thread where people WANT to hear your opinions on him. Filling every thread in the transfer forums with your dislike of him gets so fucking boring for the rest of us who want transfer news. Not to pick you out specifically because there's a few who do it, but this thread is less than 2 pages and you've managed to post the same thing 3 times.

I think I'm probably in the minority, but I"m not so sure if I would go for him. He seems like a great Kane replacement, but he doesn't strike me as being a perfect fit for what Ange looks for in a forward (playing on the shoulder, looking to get in behind, stretching the defense). Given price, age, and availability, I'd rather look elsewhere, but equally I may just be underrating him because I've not seen that much of him.
