Tottenham eye Ivan Toney as Harry Kane replacement

Tottenham Hotspur have turned their attention to Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the event that Harry Kane departs this summer. Spurs are willing to wait until next year’s winter transfer window to make a move for the England international.

Having been a gambler and around the game for 40 years, i'd be wary of signing someone who's been diagnosed with a gambling addiction, at least until i saw sustained concrete proof his head was in the right place. Perhaps sounds harsh but you have to be 100% focused to cut it in the PL & i've lost count of the times my head was all over the place after blowing my weekly wage in an afternoon when i was in my twenties.

Yeah, I've never been a gambler but run betting shops for years and saw the disease take hold of people and ruin lives.

Hopefully he is getting the very best help in the world , although after Dele last week I don't trust football clubs to look after anyone.

One of my favorite strikers, despite his gambling problems, there's not many forwards that would almost guarantee you 15 goals, and I bet he would score more than 20 if healthy.

Considering how much clubs spend on transfers, salaries and the rest, it might be in a club's interest to look after its employees. An employee who's dealing with physical or mental health concerns, addictions, or whatever, will be far less productive than healthy people.

He'd be right near the top of my list if we lost Kane. He'll always be under close scrutiny after the gambling stuff anyway so I doubt that would be a problem.

If we lose Kane there's no point buying Toney who can't play for, what, 3 months of the season! We need to get a good start, and be up there to try and secure Europe for the following season! That means, if we lose Kane now we need a player who can have at least a small amount of pre season rather than coming in late and being totally off the pace.
