Yeah im part way through and he doesnt seem to be taking any responsibility. I feel like he still isnt really telling the truth which is a major red flag for any potential transfer.

Given what I know about his various situations (Trix has referred to similar), this is a really quite a remarkable interview for the exact reasons you give. Amazed that nobody close to him did not try and advise him against it (or they did and he ignored that advice - which would be in keeping with with character).

I also found it really disrespectful to Brentford as well. Personally he really didn’t come across well at all in that interview. Seriously hope we stay well clear.

The biggest concern for me is that a doctor diagnosed him with an impulsive gambling addiction and during this interview he admitted that he hasnt had any therapy or help. He said that he has just decided to stop and told himself he wont do it again. That is a standard go to line for an addict and very worrying.

Its a real shame that he has an immature attitude to this whole thing as I was really hoping that we would go for him in Jan. I would stay well clear now.

I knew all I needed to know about this guy when he decided to say 'fuck Brentford' on video because he thought it would increase his chance of shagging some girl in a beach club

He seems like a proper tool. Even if he's got the ability I hope we steer well clear.

Brentford will want like £70m+ for him next summer. We'd be mad to spend that much on a 28 year old with his baggage.

He's a really good player but a lot of his quality is suited to a club like Brentford - really good hold up play and winning long balls, etc. He'd do well here, no doubt, but I see him as more of a straight replacement for Kane whereas I think under Ange we'd be better off going for a younger quick, aggressive, penalty box striker.

Yep shame he doesn't realise he needs help and put his ego to one side, he'll relapse for sure without any help, you don't have addictions like that and then just stop.

A lot of footballers Merson, Lee Sharpe etc have suffered for many years even with help.

Actually wouldn't mind listening to it but think il swerve it as I know I'll get pissed off listening to him avoid responsibility and blame others.
With the couple of things he's been caught saying about Brentford he does seem a bit of a prick. He's undoubtedly a good footballer and probably should be playing higher than Brentford but he's at that level for a reason.

Toney's first game back for Brentford is likely to be against us end of January, and also Mbuemo and Wissa are also available as neither of their countries qualified for AFCON.

Maybe the betting markets had him down as showing contrition in his first interview.

He seems like a proper idiot (not referring to the betting in specific here), and not the type of character you want in a squad that all needs to pull in the same direction.

Totally agree, doesn’t come across well at all.

I think its interesting that there are times when the phrase "mental health" in a prepared interview reads a little like the phrase "sex addiction" in the noughties and seems like its been media-training workshopped. And this is one of those times.

A lengthy suspension for any reason at all for an elite athlete would have a 'mental health' impact of sorts. It is not going to have the catastrophic mental health impact of eg. Not being able to feed your children / being summarily fired / the unexpected death of a loved one / an irrevocable life changing injury etc.
And it isn't something which should colour the legitimacy or moral rectitude of the suspension itself.

I'd find "its really easy to be an idiot, especially when youre not really hurting anyone else, its a fair cop but boy am I paying for it now" much more conciliatory.
