Grealish will cost between £20-30 million . I’d be amazed if it was less. I personally feel fee is agreed and talks are ongoing about payment plans ....just a wild guess.

Ie add ons , buy back clauses , sell on etc

I don’t agree with that. If only headline figure is agreed then the whole thing is still not agreed. Add-ons and buy-back are all pretty material value points in a negotiation. I might happily trade a few million on to the headline to get a lower ceiling on add-ons for example.

Fair enough. It’s been reported negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs could it be a fee hasn’t yet been agreed at all?

Quite possibly. My personal view, that I’d posted previously, was that AV and THFC had agreed everything but AV were being careful in formalising/announcing it to manage their creditor negotiations as best they could. With the news of the new investment I think that’s all a moot point so my guess is that it will get announced very soon as JG sale needs to be sorted to manage FFP and the new investment business case would have priced in JG being gone.

Xia is less billionaire and more great con man though so the article loses credibility calling him a billionaire.

Why does it lose credibility? The article simply states the rules and punishments for breaking ffp.

The chairman’s personal situation is irrelevant.

I didn't realise the penalties for breaching FFP in the Championship were so tough or so immediate. No wonder Villa are anicking somewhat.

Crazy gamble they took last year. Get promoted to the Prem, or set the club back years.

I can actually imagine Levy and Poch having a chat a couple of days ago :

Poch : “So, Danny baby, where are we with the Grealish situation?”

Levy : “Don’t worry son, I’ve got it all under control. We’ve got ‘em by the balls and I’m just gonna make them sweat for a bit. In a couple of weeks they’ll be begging me to accept our offer of 10m paid in 20 instalments and a free stadium tour thrown in”.

Phone rings..... “er, sorry to bother you Mr Levy, but you might want to turn on the TV. Something about some billionaires investing in Villa.”

Levy “Oh shite”

Doesn’t matter. Villa are strongly breaking ffp. Rules are an owner cannot bail them out.

They need to generate cash. Grealish is their main asset and we are their top suitor.

We still hold many cards.

We don’t hold all the cards! What you stated is partially accurate, but also inaccurate. Do not want say to more.

I didn’t say all the cards. I said many.

Don’t have to be itk to know the difference between many and all.
Ouch...
I wouldn’t even say ‘many’ regarding FFP. It will be announced from what I know, but we have to stump up more, which will 100% not be disclosed.

Not saying it will be a cheap deal, but:

They need to generate cash
We are the club’s and players top option.

Therefore we hold many cards. Not enough to have them over a barrel but still pretty strong.

This is odd. If Villa are to use the Grealish transfer fee to help alleviate their FFP situation, then surely the amount of money will have to be declared.

Ultmately, Levy held a lot of key cards in this deal. Primarily that Grealish and the agent wanted Spurs so other clubs - eg Leicester & Liverpool - went elsewhere, and no bidding war broke out. It seems likely from the summer's ITK stating that the holdups were at our end and not Villa's that the transfer was there to be done a month ago.

Reacting to the most recent ITK, if Levy tried to exploit Villa's perilous financial situaton to the utmost and the takeover has affected the amount we have to pay adversely, then frankly our Chairman has screwed himself.

I'm sure it does but add ons and how it is structured doesn't, only the fee IIRC.

I hope we sign this kid.

He has the ability to become a similar player to Luka modric.

He could be the answer to our lack of creativity from cm
