Verts, Rose, Kaboul, Dawson, Lennon, Sandro and Dembele all had EPL experience yet played as bad if not worse than the new players. In fact, many people think Eriksen was our best player last season and he was one of the 7 new players.

Just because we had players just as bad or worse than our signings last year doesn't mean they were good signings.

I'm not against getting 1/2 players in with no prem experience but not 7 like last year, it's asking too much for them all to settle and hit the ground running come August

Who is asking for 7 players with no prem experience.

Also premier league experience is overrated, I want Champions league experience:jimlad:

You said "our main problem last year was players we brought in not adapting to the EPL" which is not the case. The problem was the majority of players not performing regardless of how new to the team they were or how much EPL experience they lacked. In fact, the new players contributed to just over 50% of the goals and assists in the league.

It's not the case in your opinion, it is the case IMO. Some players settle quicker than other ie eriksen, others take longer ie drogbar, Henry. Time will tell if last years signings are flops or not

Good luck to Jake. Good signing for Hull. Would never have made it as us since we are packed with talent at that spot.

That's a good point. I think the error last summer was not the players we did get, but that we didn't sign at the very least 1 (maybe 2) PL-experienced players, as a means to cover all the bases, really.

In truth, I supported all the signings at the point of announcement, and I believe I would have done that again. Also, as Beats1 accurately pointed out, as poor as those 7 was, the real let-downs for me came from players who should already have that PL-experience.

What I think we need this summer, is to hold on to nigh all of the present players, and sign 3 players who are an extremely good fit for our starting 11. Also, I think we need a certain mentality, rather than players who have played within certain geographic areas. Players with experience from winning mentalities would entice me the most, or players with that edge to nudge a game in our favour. That was our real lack for most matches last season, and the position is still vacant. (Save Eriksen, of course).

Anyway, as it pertains to Livermore, I would have been happy with 5M in January. I'm amazed that Levy managed to raise his value simply by letting him stay with Hull to the end of the season.

Great businessman?

How the hell did we only get £5m for a tried and tested premier league player like Huddlestone but get £8m for a pretty much fresh out of the academy player in Livermore??

Good move all round this. Good luck to him and a good deal for both Clubs IMO.

Huddlestone had just had too seasons where he'd barely played and suffered many injuries. Livermore has just had a season at the buying club where they were very impressed with him and the fans would've been rather pissed off if he'd ended up elsewhere. It's all about supply and demand.

Oh, and in both cases we can't be sure of the figures.

Good move for him and good money for us. I personally didn't rate him despite some good performances for us. Backup quality at the most. Good luck to him, Hull's fans really like him and Hudd.

I didn't bother to read through completely, but I'm seeing Tweets saying the deal is worth 8m. Is that widely known at this point because I thought it was in the region of 6-6.5m.

Soooo...

How long until he's got 100 caps for England, is the world's best midfielder and is a 7-time Ballon D'Or Winner.

Hull's budget is most likely quite a lot larger this time around, after a boost of what... 65+ millions in television/bonuses. As Spurs-fans have experienced, larger budget means higher asking prices.
