Dont understand the concern kaboul, chirches, verts, lascelles and fryers covering lb and cb.... dawson likely out and velkovic as cover for injuries etc...... thats plenty imo. Lots of worries regarding wholesale changes and yet we are seemingly advocating them in here..

It's because
- Kaboul has been crocked for a year, then came back and was pretty shit
- Jan's been off the boil in 2014
- Chiriches yet to have an extended successful run as first choice
- Is Lascelles definitely good enough?
- Fryers isn't ready to be a relied-upon Prem CB yet
- Veljkovic has never played more than half an hour of professional club football

I agree regarding not wanting wholesale changes, which is why would question getting Lascelles in if meant we weren't getting an immediate first choice. Think there's a huge concern over Kaboul regarding injury. I'd be much more confident if he was thought of as 4th choice, forget Lascelles and got a 2nd/3rd choice in.

What's the concern? If he's good enough get him in to back up the first choice of Chiriches and Vertonghen with Kaboul playing plenty of games. Wasn't long ago we played Newcastle and everyone was raving about having him back. You are going to be rusty after the best part of two years out. He's still a very good player and if used correctly a very good asset for the club...

Then that'd would lead me to wonder about Chiriches. Don't see us signing a CB even if young if not involved straight away. And struggle to see us going into season with 5 CBs.

I'd think that Chiriches will be CB no. 3 or 4 and barring any long term injuries to Kaboul then I'd think he'd still get around 10-14 games in cups etc...

The lad doesn't have the concentration levels. I hope it's more of a case we just can't get a buyer.

Not neccesarily disagreeing with you, but why is there then such a desire to get rid of dawson....he is solid but not spectacular, willing but unable to cope with true quality attackers (who is? True quality tests even the very best). Is there a real upgrade available that is better ghan dawson, kaboul, chiriches and last seasons vertonghen? I would argue there probably isnt a realistic target at a decent price (given that popular opinion is that lovren at 20mill is too much) there isnt really an answer to this one so we are lookingbat kaboul chiriches and verts as our main 3 for this year arent we?

Don't think lovren is much different in ability to Dawson. He looked pretty ordinary when we played Southampton last year.
Also Chiriches is to lightweight and we need a more physically able central defender to partner vertonghen.

I'd still like to see us sign a LCB to cover/competition for Vetronghen.
Kaboul and Chiriches for RCB.
Then Lascalles able to cover RB and RCB, Fryers able to cover LB and LCB, Velkjovic CB.

I could see how that relates to a transfer to a big club....
