Was he playing when Grant Ward had his loan spell there last year? I don't remember him particularly standing out as better than Ward if so.
Seems like he broke into the team towards the end of the season.

Coventry City starlet James Maddison has been linked with a summer switch to the Premier League with both Manchester United and Tottenham Hostpur tracking the 18-year-old, according to national press reports.
Maddison, who has made 18 appearances for the Sky Blues, netted his second professional goal in the 2-1 victory over Crawley Town on the final day of the season.
He had enjoyed a breakthrough end of the campaign in Tony Mowbray's side and City fans are looking forward to seeing much more from the talented Cov Kid next term.
Despite this, newspaper gossip is likely to continue throughout the summer with the club bracing itself for bids when the transfer window opens in July.
We asked Sky Blues supporters how much they valued the youngster should City decide to cash-in this summer with more than half voting valuing him at more than £3million - the amount City received for Callum Wilson nearly 12 months ago.
