Jamie Redknapp's hit-piece on Levy and THFC

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

Pretty sure he was mate!

Lol, then surely he had a say in all the players that came in, so directly they are his players (more then AVB) and shouldn't really complain about it, nor should the pundits. Only spurs :)

You would think so - but responsibility at Tottenham is like a hot potato isn't it lol

Can someone refresh my memory and tell me who is on this committee of ours?

I'd say firstly:

CHIEF DAN LEVY & his copy of Football Manager

then

BALDINI, SHERWOOD (or whoever is coach), BROOMFIELD (now)

then disparate group of

FAVOURED AGENTS, PROFESSIONAL SCOUT TYPES (ie COMOLLI), PLEAT, LEVY'S SECRETARY

You forgot Doris.

Doris: Not signing another inside-out winger, are you Mr. Levy?
DL: Just pour the tea, Doris.
Doris: Well I never!

Let's look at the managers Levy has fired:
Graham - Out of football ever since
Hoddle - Failed with Wolves, out of top level football ever since
Santini - Wanted to leave
Jol - Sacked by Ajax, made a hash of Fulham job
Ramos - Did a decent job at Real, but then jobbing in Morroco and Ukraine
Harry - bankrupting Fernandes and praying for playoff miracle with a wage bill bigger than Dortmund.
AVB - too soon to tell

Records since suggest he wasn't wrong to fire any of them, suggest more of a problem with his recruitment strategy than propensity to pull the trigger.

A few things here. Redknapp was rightly sacked, IMO. You had a guy openly flirting with the England job for quite some time, and the results suffered from it. Not to mention, he was a very open and candid guy when it came to our business when its quite clear that Levy would rather things remain quiet. So there was already a rift there. But that wasnt a reason to sack him. Once he started fliriting with England, and results suffered, things got hairy and the sack was justified.

AVB should have been given until the end of this year, IMO. So I agree that he was wrongly sacked.

As for Sherwood, he is so out of his depth it is absurd. He doesnt have a clear plan, there are no tactics on display, we rarely put in good performances, he has given up in a few games and he even said he didnt know how to change things when we were down 2-0 to Liverpool. We ended up losing 4-0. I am all for stability if we see a plan, good performances, tactics on display and a wilingness and know how to change things when they dont work. I do not see that with Sherwood. He also acts very childish and like a self serving prick. Combine the football based things with his antics, and you have a more than justifiable immediate sack, IMO. As for the youth thing, it's come into debate recently whether his impact is as great as was once thought.
However much he flirted or fluttered his eyelids. He got us out of relegation and two fourth placed finishes. I couldn't give a fuck if he was dangling his penis in levy a face and singing the Russian anthem. He did not deserve the sack. He was an old school big mouth manager but he got us playing fantastic football. And that is all I care about. Same as Jol. Fuck the shit going on behind the scenes. How does that affect the average fan? (Sorry for the swearing)

Or. This job was the pinnacle of the calibre of manager we could get during those periods?

I totally agree but he is slating us for not giving them time not picking the wrong ones. At the time only Timothy and AVB were questionable appointments

AVB was such a poor decision that you have to question Levy's ability to pick our Managers. I guess LVG is a kind of safe bet.

If he is left to do his thing, it could work.

Totally agree. I couldn't care less if he's a twat. Most people are. I want to see an entertaining, successful football team and he delivered that.

Believe or not he was a Sherwood/Ramsey recommendation according to one ITK

Personally always thought Jamie was a good footballer who gave his best. He was Liverpool and Tottenham captain.

I'm sure he's bitter about how his Dad was fired but he's not saying anything new. Redknapp got Levy out of a very tight spot and assembled a fantastic, balanced squad. He deserved a pay rise in my opinion.

He is a riduclant. I care not for his ill informed 'expert' opinion. Why on earth would Levy enjoy sacking managers? Why on earth should Sherwood be given such a big job in football based on little experience and achievement? All this 'my old mate' business gets in the way of English managers succeeding, as you are given the job not based on your merits but by who you know. And who you know are are usually cretinous hangers on. Pipe down Jamie, your dad's outdated approach is showing its worth.

Figured out what fundamentally grates me about him. It's a banal observation but anyway...Not a single fuck is given as to whether what he says is true. Probably no standard of truth enters into his speech process, consciously or otherwise. It's reflexively about what serves him or the credibility of the image he's projecting in terms of a very conventional wisdom.

Wow.... you are truly an embarrassment to yourselves and this club.

You might not agree with what Redknapp says, but at least express your opinion in a manner which indicates that you actually live in some sort of civilised society.

By the way, Jamie Redknapp (as a former player) and his dad (as a former manager) have contributed much more to this club than any of you ever have or ever will.

Your behaviour and rhetoric is a sad indictment of the type of 'fan' who has infected our club. As a long-time season ticket holder, I used to think that such pathetic and reprehensible individuals were largely restricted to the likes of Elland Road and Stamford Bridge, but unfortunately I've witnessed a greater frequency of such stupidity on the terraces at WHL over the last couple of years.

Are you are so immature and/or insecure that you can not bear to have someone hold a different view than you about this club? Does every bit of criticism deserve this type of response?

Pathetic.

By the way, if you had any perception of the world outside of your own little insular, blinkered box, you might actually realise that Redknapp is much more qualified to give his opinion on these issues than anyone on this forum (after all, he actually played the sport professionally), so much so that he's paid to provide his opinion on TV and in print - whereas, some of the posters on here....

I was going to say "hi Harry/Jamie" but you are far too articulate to be either of them aforementioned. Louise by any chance?

VDV, Modric, Bale, King and Defoe delivered succes to Tottenham. Harry had very good squads that were much better than what we had since he left.

At QPR, he's managed to get them relegated from the PL, bankrupt Fernandes, an absurdly high wage bill, and have them locked in a playoff battle likely to feature Derby and the 2 other relegated sides for re entry where the only thing guaranteed is drama.

Ramos had all those players except VDV

"You can bring in anyone to work with that group of players and they would struggle to get the top four."
(With 'that' group of players ? Show some respect you tosser, 'that' group of players are 5 pts behind with a manager with 0 experience)

That's the one that tipped me over into conniption territory.
