The player Defoe could have been. He has his flaws but would be a great foil/alternative to Soldado.
Honestly, I don't think this would be a great signing. He is a more specialized version of Bobby Soldier. He thrives in and around the six yard box and scores goals for fun in there, but offers nothing else. Problem is, in our current set up, he will never see the ball in that area. We rarely work the ball into the box, which has already isolated Soldado, who has more of an all around game than Javier. I understand AVB's Porto relied on a true finisher, but unless things dramatically change in the next week, that's just not the kind of player we need, especially when we've got Soldado. I'd prefer someone who offers something different to come off the bench then adding a second poacher. Also, I hate El Tri.

Hernandez for Defoe............ In a heartbeat. He would be awesome here. Has Pace and knows where the goal is. We are not playing hoof ball to ade anymore, we will be playing through balls to Soldado ... no need to change the set up or style if Hernandez comes on as a sub ...
I would love to see him at the lane
He is a brilliant finisher, Re the hold up part do we not try and play the ball out from the back
