With Dembele, Wanyama and Dier, as well as Winks and Onomah, I think we're pretty well stocked in central midfield.

And with Barkley's probable arrival, we could have another CM option if some recent articles are to be believed about Poch wanting to develop him to eventually take over the reigns from Dembele.

I really don't see what the fuss is all about over Onomah. He may have done well for England but his on-field contribution in a Spurs shirt has been minimal. We're in the Champions League again this year. If Onomah has so much potential then he should be loaned out where he can get some quality playing time. He's had the time under Pochettino's coaching to know what is required of him. Now he needs to play. I just don't think he's ready to step up now for Spurs.

Seri offers us something we don't have - an all-around player who can score goals, tackle and make long, accurate passes. I believe he had the second most assists in France last year, as well as scoring 7 goals for his club. A most attractive possibility in my opinion.

Can't sat I really understand the philosophy of 'converting' players for different roles. It's been suggested that Poch might want to convert Ross Barkley into a CM now, which may or may not be true and may or may not work. If we want a CM, Seri appears to already have the all round skillset. Seems a good option to me.

I don't get Barkley as a cm given we are overstocked there.

We need creative players as if Eriksen is out, we fail to tick.

If anything we're a player short in central midfield. Dier's spending most of his time as a centre back which leaves our current options as Dembele (fitness issues), Wanyama and Winks. Poch doesn't seem to trust Onomah and Alli/Eriksen are emergency options. Barkley would be a good foil for Alli and Eriksen but likewise he has the attributes to one day fill Dembele's boots.

I understand what you're getting at with the CMs we've got, but I still think we need an attacking CM who brings something different and Seri totally fits the bill.

None of Onomah, Winks, Wanyama, or Dier have a lot of attacking ability in the final third and I think we could really use that type of option in our squad. Onomah in particular is hard to even count as CM seeing as Poch never plays him there even if it's genuinely his best position.

Also as sad as it is considering Dembele's age, injury history, and fitness concerns he counts as essentially half a player as he can't really play twice in one week and even when he does play he often can't complete a full 90.

I agree that we probably do need an attacking midfielder, or to be more precise, another playmaker in the mould of Eriksen, in case the Dane picks up an injury.

From what I have gathered though, Seri is very much a central midfielder, one who sits a touch deeper than the more attack minded players. He definitely looks a talent, but I believe we have someone in Winks who could perform a similar role, and I'd rather see him given an opportunity.

I've wanted us to sign a CM for a good while, but with the emergence of Winks and Onomah, couple with the versatility of Dier, I think we probably have enough numbers to cope with the season ahead.

I see Winks as a deeper playmaker. Similar to a Parker or Modric. Seri is a bit similar, but with a totally different skillset imo.

I also agree about the Eriksen cover, but that's what I think someone like Barkley could provide.

I know it's a pipe dream but someone like Kovacic provides that quality cover at centre mid or attacking mid and can actually provide serious competition for a starting spot. Would seem a much better option albeit at a higher cost.

Probably the dream summer signing tbh. Would increase the number of subs Poch trusts to 3 (with Winks and Son (though possibly Lamela as well if fit))

In today's Guardian in a piece about the potential Neymar-PSG transfer they were discussing Valverdes interest in a CM and the names mentioned were Veratti and Paulinho as usual but they also put Seri in and added that if Nice fail to qualify for the CL group stages they expect Spurs' interest to increase.

We're signing Barkley can't see why people are continually bumping this. ITK say Barkley, AMR and RB. No mention of another CM we have Winks as the metronome back up...

Really don't think we are in for him.
I think we should be but I kind of have the same feeling. (Reportedly) he is being tracked by Liverpool, Arsenal, and Everton in the PL alone not to mention several European clubs. Can't see us getting into a bidding war or wage war for him.

Good player ... we need more depth to play champion league. Can't believe we sign no one.
