If Liverpool are still playing Moneyball then they may take him. Everyone knows they need someone who can convert shots to goals efficiently, this season his shots to goals have been impressive:

Defoe: 5.7 shots per goal

For comparison:
Suarez: 15 shots per goal
VdV: 9.2 shots per goal
Rooney (last 4 seasons average): 7.5
RVP (last 4 seasons average): 6.5

Defoe's now being link with a move to Reading...

i wonder if this rumor does build some momentum, does it mean we will be going for both Remy and Leandro... and maybe even Lewandowski?

From what Sherwood has been saying Kane might get a shot in the 1st team squad this season. If not then I guess we'll be looking to get him a Premiership loan.

If we keep Kane and the expected Adebayor deal goes through then I imagine we'll be looking at one more quality striker.

If we're looking at the short-term then I guess we'll have Defoe, Adebayor plus one more striker if the long term then Adebayor, Kane plus one more striker meaning Defoe will be moving on.

My guess is Defoe will stay.

It would be interesting to know how many minutes per shot they each had.

Defoe's problem is that he's an ideal impact sub who thinks he should be a regular starter. If he ever realized that, he'd be a huge asset to the club.

As to Kane, has he beefed up any? Looked a little bigger in one of the U-19 pics.

We cannot think of selling our only striker until we get in replacements

I like Defoe but if we get 3 strikers in then I wouldn't mind if we cash in on him

As I said a few weeks ago in the Defoe thread, it's a shame, but football has moved on from strikers like Defoe. He either is unable to or doesn't want to adapt to the changes, personally I don't think he can adapt.

He has been a great goalscorer fro this club, but I think he needs to move on for himself, we can no longer fit him into how we need to be playing, and he is going to get less and less game time from now on. Lets get some money while we still can.

OOhhh look at me. I talk sense.:)

I agree with ever word.

I love little JD, but he's what? 29 now? 30 this year?

Everyone knows what he can do, he has his limitations, has a decent eye for goal, but we're rebuilding and will we ever get better money for him than we will at his moment? No

I'm thinking Defoe won't last the window. It makes football and business sense for him not to.

A conundrum is our "shoot on sight" little fella. Not good enough but doesn't play enough to be good enough and to good to let anyone else have. If he could score more away from home, learn to attack the 6 yard box (like Keane did) for tap-ins and score against the top teams, I'd be happy to keep him.

If he has been told he can't leave then, that's that.

Like most people have said, if we can bring in better re-enforcements then the time to change is now. It's a Brave New Spurs. Time to shoot for the moon (Spurs that is, not Defoe, even if Defoe did shoot for the moon - he would probably have been offside).

I'm sure I read a statement a few days ago, possibly from AVB, that Defoe wouldn't be allowed to leave.

Has that changed?

Paper speculation rather than from the boss himself I would've thought... Seems unlikely we'd let him go, at least until there were a few more strikers on the books...
