according to Correio da Manhã (portuguese journal - it's not the most reliable source , but sometimes they have good information) João Moutinho is forcing his way out.

Moutinho informed porto's chairman that he wants to leave and that porto should accept Levy's offer of 20M€. He was replaced during the last game and thanked the fans in a way that looked like a goodbye.

It feels wrong to praise exhibitions of player-power after Modric's behaviour but....yes, good boy! Please make yourself as truculent as possible!

at this rate it's the only way we can sign anyone, they need to take matters into their own hands!

It's so frustrating that all these players (Moutinho, Lloris, Willian, etc) all seem to really want to come to us but we just can't get the deals done!

Maybe Levy has got such a reputation in lowballing bids that other clubs now think that whatever bid Levy puts in, the player is worth 3 times more.

A source close to FC Porto just told me the transfer of Moutinho to Spurs should be announced in the next 24 hours. Will keep you posted.

I don't know what that's worth but you never know...

Please let this be true. If we sign Moutinho and also keep VDV I think we would have a very strong team to play a 4-3-3 formation.

He was on TalkSport the other day and said something that Porto have to sell 1 player to balance the books, I guess if the Hulk deal has stalled they may have to sell Moutinho to make up the cash they need.

Yes please!

Who's Pedro Pinto?

He's a Portuguese football journo that works mainly for CNN. He also does the Champions League draws for UEFA sometimes.

Unless Dembele gets benched, which I really cant see happening, a midfield trio of Moutinho-Sandro-Dembele has no real goal threat in there. Solid as fuck, but no goal threat.

Going to need a lot of goals from the side if this comes off.

I'm a negative little fucker.

I really like the idea of a midfield 3 of Moutinho, Sandro and Dembele. All 3 look like they have a good work rate, can defend and Moutinho and Dembele can help with adding a bit of creativity. We could then have (any 2 of) Bale, VDV, Lennon and Gylfi supporting Ade to get the goals.

I guess Dembele then becomes CF/Wing competition. Sigurdsson would probably start given his chance creation and goals stats were similar to Rafas last year i think.

A lot of change though and could easily go wrong.

This would be awesome, never thought we could get both Mouts and Dembele. Replace VdV with Isco and Defoe with either PEA or Remy and this window would be the single biggest transformation of any club in the history of the league.

Moutinho, Sandro and Dembele looks like a great midfield, but I don't think they scored 10 goals between them last season. That leaves us so reliant on the forward three for goals. Bale will probably get around 10 or so but Lennon usually only gets 4/5 a season. I don't fancy Sig or Rafa at RW and would expect Rafa to leave for Hamburg should Moutinho come in.

Just struggling to come to terms with this, I cant see it happening. Would have thought that it would be Dembele or Moutinho - we don't need both.

Dembele's at his best deeper imo and doesn't score enough goals to play CF for us. Its quite a luxury position to be put into, but I cant see Levy shelling out 15m for Dembele for him to be cover.

I'm by no means an expert on AVB formation at Porto but didn't he like the three midfielders to be able to swap roles?

I really want to get excited about this, but after the whole Damiao saga I'll wait until the story gets more public in terms of quotes.

Signing Moutinho is one of the only things that could soften the devastation of losing Rafa and Modders.

True it does become reliant on the front 3 getting the goals and that's why I really hope Rafa stays. I hope between Rafa, Bale, Lennon and Sig they can get enough goals to take the load of Ade. Plus with that midfield I imagine our ability to keep the ball will be great.

I think the main downside would be it might be very narrow but if Rafa and Bale play just behind the the lone striker, bale can drift out wide on the left, VDV drops deeper into midfield and Dembele can sort of push out wide to the right (not as a winger just to help cover the right when needed which hopefully won't be very often).

Yeah it could be a bit of a luxury but right now I am seeing it as some awesome dream.
