Wouldn't usually quote Football Insider but they do get legit info on young players and players from lower league teams.

Sources: Tottenham lay groundwork on unexpected Bellingham deal

Tottenham are working on a deal to sign Jobe Bellingham, sources have told Football Insider.

The London giants have a strong interest in the Birmingham City sensation, who is the younger brother of England star Jude Bellingham.

Tottenham are putting together a package to lure the 17-year-old south of the border ahead of the summer window.

The teen sensation is also on the radar of other Premier League clubs as well as teams in the Bundesliga.

Tottenham believe Bellingham has improved in recent months and they are putting in the groundwork to sign him before the race hots up.

Bellingham junior has established himself as a regular in the Birmingham first-team squad since debuting as a 16-year-old just over a year ago.

He has made 15 appearances this season, 14 of which have come in the Championship, although only two of them have been in the starting XI.

Capped by England at Under-18 XI, Bellingham signed a professional contract with Birmingham on his 17th birthday last September.

He is an attacking midfielder who can operate on both flanks as well as down the middle.

Can’t see him joining unless he has a clear pathway to the first team.

Which would be very unlikely under Conte.

Is he any good? I have seen nothing of him. I've read varying reports ranging from "he is nowhere near as good as his brother" to "he will be better then his brother". Im assuming its somewhere in the middle.

He'll definitely be either worse or better than Jude.

Hopefully we'll find out if he joins!

Wouldn’t somewhere in the middle in this scenario be Jude himself?

This is clearly the first step in our attempts to sign his brother in the summer once the Qatari billions hit the bank account.

I know we're a London club, with all the southern bias that comes with it, but I'm pretty sure the border's a wee bit further up than Birmingham.

I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to work out when they put a border in the middle of the M6. I mean, I'm all for it generally speaking, but I'd just like a little bit of a warning.

From what I understand he is at least as highly rated by his club and in the local area as Jude. Whether that means he goes on to be anywhere near as good is anyone's guess of course but he is clearly a talented kid.

Yes please! I've heard that he has the potential to be better than Jude so this would be a very clever move.

I had heard that he is higher rated now than his brother was at the same age. Doesn't mean very much and tbh you'd expect his brother to be telling him to go abroad or at least to a club where he will get first team football and develop.

If he’s half as good as his brother we should do all we can to sign him.

Got to be honest though, if I was a young prospect I wouldn’t sign for Spurs with Conte as manager.

Yet he started Skipp pretty early on and gave him a good run in the team and has given Sarr opportunities. He’s 16 anyway isn’t he, no PL club is playing a 16 year old regularly. I don’t think a kid should be playing men’s football at that age anyway. It’s far too young.
