Carroll I feel is still a long way off from even a Livermore-esque role, let alone stepping into the breach of someone as influential as Modric (although I do recognise you aren't saying Carroll for Modric per se).

Point is, if you are talented enough you will make it and I really don't see Allen stunting Carroll's growth at this club at all.

I wouldn't disagree in the slightest. I simply haven't seen enough of Allen to make a meaningful judgement, likewise Carroll—he impressed me as a prospect in the Europa Cup games, is all.

Yes. I certainly see Sandro as more of a box-to-box player. The shackles need to come off for him this season. Hudd, is a delightful passer and has good vision. He plainly doesn't have the mobility. Not tht he's so slow it's a problem. He's a canny player and defensively, one of the better CMs in the squad.

It'll be interesting to see who does what exactly, especially when defending and playing the pressing game.

Totally agree about Sandro. Feel as though the guy hasn't even scratched the surface of his potential in the attacking half in the PL yet. It's obvious he's fantastic as an enforcing midfielder, but I do believe that he can become a very adept player in the attacking half. Like you said, time to let the shackles come off and let him roam a bit. Come to think of it, adding a guy like Joe Allen (Who played deep in the defending half today for GB) or Dembele would be good additions as they could cover for Sandro and not be a complete waste of space.

I would say Sandro and Parker are much better in those roles. Them liking going forward doesn't mean they have to. Parker went forward too much at times for us, he still did the job well but for England I think he plays the strict deeper role perfectly.

Are they, though? Parker's really a box-to-box player, the kind of midfielder Jenas should have been; Sandro's closer to being a pure DM, but certainly likes to get forward. Huddlestone could certainly sit deeper and orchestrate whilst Parker/Sandro and A.N. Other do their thing further up the pitch.

Persoanlly I would have Sandro sitting centrally in the middle three as my first choice most weeks. Parker is by nature a box to boxer really who's just so tenacious he ends being used as a busy ****. But those two either side of Hudd sitting deep (The only role he could possibly play in a three) would be a very pedestrian and predictable three. Neither of Sandro or Parker have much vision or finesse in the final third either.

I would much rather have Sandro in the central role, with 2 of Sig, Jenas, Paker, Allen/Debele/Moutinho, in the rm/lm roles either side of him. Parker can also play that DM role, but for all Hudd's ability to hit the odd decent pass, he is just not dynamic, fluid and incisive enough for me especially the way AVB likes to play - high tempo, high press, fluid, pass, move. All of those players except Hudd can play that way. With AVB it's about the group, collectivisation, not building a team round a static quarter back type (and lets be honest Hudd's not good enough to be that anyway).

Allen Sandro Sig

Dembele Sandro Allen

Parker Sandro Moutinho

Moutinho Parker Allen

etc etc.

I thought we would look outside of Britain with AVB in charge!

Our scouting team leaves a lot to be desired tbh.

Precisely. My fantasy is that every Spurs player can play in any position on the pitch at any particular time according to the particular needs. The needs they will have the wit to determine themselves. Football is organic, man. It doesn't count unless it has a Soil Association seal of approval.

is this infamous THFC TALK Choda? :)

No, this is the infamous THFC TALK TURKISH, pretending to be Choda, so he could wind a few people up on here. But that was a year or so ago, which worked a treat.

I wanted to wind up Gino and Jrio/Earl Warwick. I have no idea who you are Mr Pink, you must have had a different username on THFCTALK.

Well, yes, a Parker-Hudd-Sandro midfield would be solid in the way that constipation is solid, but I was suggesting perming two of them with the Modric replacement as one possibility. It's a matter of opinion whether Hudd is good enough for that 'quarterback' role, and I'm not going to attempt to second-guess AVB.
