There are 2 things which the regulators are tough against

Insider trading is one

Market manipulation is the other
I mean they should be, both are crimes that can come with sizeable prison sentences. Insider trading has the same prison sentence duration as sexual assault does.

Billionaire acting shady to make more money, tell me something I don't know. He will get a fine, and the world will move on. This shit happens all the time.

Is it widely accepted that both of those go on every hour of every day but spotting it and proving it is the reason more people don't get pulled up for it?

I worked in the City for a while, mixed with lots of people who are likely either in jail for something else, dead from doing too much coke or so rich they won't care anymore - I was IT support for Deutsche bank so hung out with reasonably high profile traders daily, and the amount of waffle and chatter that went on that would end with, "of course, that's just between us..." was insane.

Actually think this is nonsense, and basically bargaining around the fact that you just want money in the club regardless of where it comes from.

There are absolutely levels of 'crook' and it's fair enough to want our next owners to be as un-crooked as possible.

A shoplifter can absolutely look down from the moral high ground on a murderer and it's daft to say otherwise.

That said...Joe Lewis is clearly a shit.
I'd put Joe more in a much more serious category than shoplifter, he effectively robbed every person in the UK during a financial crisis, that's a bit more than nicking a couple of t-shirts from next.

Of course there are levels of morality though, I literally said that in my post.

Tbh, I’d be quite accepting of that kind of info.

It's alright if you heard it from a mates mate I think

It hearing it first hand from a chairman ,director, financial controller of a listed company and using the information to purchase stocks before the news become public

Come on now you know what you were saying.

You were agreeing with someone saying that morals shouldn't come into who is owner of the club.

And that's your lookout obviously...each to their own.

I personally think an approach of 'everyone is a little bit evil so we may as well get as much money as we can' isn't a great approach...but again that's just me.

Torturing and executing unfavourable journalists.

Giving illegal stock tips to your pilot.

Both crimes. Do we seriously believe they are ethically comparable?
I actually don't see the point in comparing - it smacks of whataboutery. If Joe Lewis has done some criminal acts he should be criticised accordingly.

It's whataboutery if people are trying to excuse what Lewis has done.

But in terms of who is running Tottenham, it would be ludicrous not to make the comparison.

So how do we rank now compared the oil clubs and other scumb bag owners? Are we still the ethical white knights or in the bin with the rest of them

Well on an ethical scale I wouldn’t say it’s worst than murdering journalists, torturing gay people, or severely restricting the rights of women.

You're being disingenuous by saying 'giving illegal stock tips to your pilot'. Insider trading is far more serious than that. Ask those who have lost their pension funds because of insider trading.

You’re right. Having your own pilot. Think of the carbon footprint. This fucker is responsible for the destruction of the planet.
