BUT HE'S NOT THAT GOOD!!!

yes he likes a tackle, puts in a decent pass now and again and scores the odd cracker, but he is far overated by the press for the same reason that people want him here

People like a fecker, same reason people liked Savage, V Jones, 'chopper' Harris etc. Their shortcomings in talent is masked by some weird kind of 'dirty X factor' that people seem to like

We may as well just employ some thugs to cheer up the 'no passion blah blah blah changethefuckingrecordandstopbuyingthesunordailymail' brigade

Fuck it, give Zoko a hammer and spike his drink before a game, then you'll get the broken bones you crave!

There is a positive out of this, City's two best players are out of our maybe must win last game of the season!!
Richards injured, Barton suspended.
I'd take both, young English and I'm sure Jol could tame Barton. He did with Mido.

Mido didn't go round sticking cigars in team-mates' eyes or trying to kick shit out of kids at airports. It really breaks me up the way people who bitch on and on about Mido being a troublemaker start wanking themselves silly over this poisonous pikey ****.

Actually, it doesn't. What it does make me feel is like puking up over the hypocrisy.

Lots of promise, but a prick who i've no doubt would unsettle the squad over time. Had more than one chance to redeem himself at City but failed. Reminds me a bit of John Oster all them years back, a promising player but off the field incidents stopped him from becoming any good.

So no thanks!

He's a scouser, he's a good player, he's a thug, he's overated, because he's a scouser (English), he's not welcome at the lane, and he won't improve us anyway.

For the people saying he's over-rated I really think you underestimate just how important he's been to Man City over the last two years. I seriously think they would have gone down without him this year...he is ten times as good as any of the other players there.

He has most of the qualities that a midfielder needs and lets face it he's performed better than JJ over the last two years.

Like I said I wouldn't have him at Spurs because he's a nutter...but to overlook his footballing abilities is just being daft.

 Well said, I think he's exactly the type of player we need and when he's in a quality team there will be nothing to fight about and Jol will sort im out. We need a tough b@$t@rd in midfield and he can get a few goals too we desperately need a leader in the middle we have no leaders and it's a major problem £1.5m and Mido.

Jol won't sort him out. That's wishful thinking in the extreme.

Just amazing. A player with serious, serious issues on and off the pitch smashes a team-mate's jaw and the immediate reaction of some of our members is, 'Oh, whoopee! We must sign him!'

This is, I believe, the same Spurs Community that went apeshit when Mido had his bust-up with Shehata at the ANC? The same one that turned into a Bateman cartoon when Mido made a jokey comment about a player most of our membership seems happy to imagine dying of AIDS and strung up from a tree? And the same wankers who appeared to have suddenly signed up for the Sol Protection Society now want Barton? Well, why not? And let's have that lunatic Hartson while we're at it.

I'm actually ashamed at the amount of people who've shown themselves to be nothing more than mindless monkeys, in this thread. Embarrassing...

And let me add a hearty "hear hear" to this.

Barton is an mindless yob and I do not want him at our club REGARDLESS of how much "spine" he might bring to our "lightweight midfield". I'd feel exactly the same about someone like Bellamy or Bowyer - no thanks.

Although he has potential and a presence in the middle of the park he has far too much baggage. The risk of him upsetting the dressing room is just not worth it.

He comes from a notorious part of Manchester and has a notorious family so I don’t think you would ever get the best from him.

A classic case of talent that will undoubtedly end up down the kazi.

There’s no way in the world that 11 would ever finish a game hey would always be abandoned….

Can you imagine the changing room before kick off, they’d be fighting with each other they even got out the door….
