yeah all we need is a racist argumentative twat to help the team spirit

Means nothing. If you have a strong manager.
United won the treble and many players in that team didn't get along, but they all knew what was expected on the trainging field and come kick-off.

how is barton racist? his half brother who doesnt even live with him is, doesnt mean he is.

i still think he can be tamed, cant believe Pearce hasnt tamed him tho! I mean if he cant..who can?

let me state that i would only want a tamed joey barton at spurs, the odd outbursts are ok but continued behaviour like this is unacceptable.

for those that doubt is ability, why the hell else would man city keep him after all the shit he has done? they could have got rid to everton or boro easily last summer, and even convinced him to stay in january when boro made a move.

the lad has bags of talent, so sad that he's a few radishes short of a salad!

its pointless getting a player that we need to taim, to me it would take away part of his game and would limit aplayer, though barton i just wouldnt want at the club anwyay, yes we need a player in the cetner to put tackles in, but i would prefer one to put the tackles in on our opponants not our team! fucking mental unit is where he should be

If he didn't have all these problems then I would take him without a doubt for 5.5 M

Joey Barton is a good footballer, but some of the comparisons to Roy Keane reek of a massive lack of knowledge. Barton will never be the player Keane ever was, just cos he has aggression and BITE on the pitch doesn't mean for any second that he should be voiced in the same breath.

He's a liability. I would never want to see him in a Spurs shirt - and to all those that would, you really lack sensibility. Anyone that puts a cigar out in a youth player's eye (okay we might all lose it now and again, but for fucks sake thats fucked up), beats a teammate to a pulp, brother murders a teenager because they're black (and the list goes on)....I couldn't even consider having at our club. 'He didn't kill anyone!' I hear you cry.....but for fucks sake look at the genetic pattern of unforgiveable, disgustingly immoral behaviour!

He's the reason you worry about your wife/girlfriend getting home safely at night, he's the reason you have to watch your back in a nightclub, and he's the reason things kick off in the kebab shop at the end of the night. I'm sick and tired of hearing excuses for this train wreck of a person. He's a piece of scum.

If he wasn't gifted as a footballer, he be getting shagged like his brother in one of Her Majesty's prisons. Complete waste of space......no thank you...in my opinion morality rises above ability in this case. Barton=No Thanks.

wt is the point of this?? that gerrard plays for a bigger and better club than man city.

you've reinforced my point that Gerrard has benefitted from being tamed and moulded from a young age (20), whereas Barton hasnt.

ability wise I assure you they wer probably not that far apart at that age

At same age? Playing for City hasn't harmed playing for U21 with other players, and Micah Richards won his 1st senior cap when he was 17. Barton has had 2 decent seasons and that's all. Even without his personality Top 4 wouldn't even have sniffed him.

As for needing nasty fucker in the midfield, well ManU, Chelsea and Arsenal seem to do fine without. Sure we could add bit steel in the midfield, but not with the expense of talent and that's what Barton represents. Besides what's the point of this thread, we all know Barton will never, ever wear Spurs shirt as long as Levy is chairman and personally i'm thankful of that.

As they used to say in those old Smirnoff ads "The effect is shattering".

nothing wrong with having a nasty fucker in midfield. in fact im all for it. but a player can be nasty on the field and a gent off it.
take robbie savage for example. orrible fucker on the pitch, but off the pitch he is very popular with his team mates, and has been wherever he has played. ive never heard a bad word said about him off the pitch (or no more than the usual)
joey barton is a cancer in the man city squad.
buying players is a gamble at the best of times, and we aint that desperate to gamble on cheap mentals ala bolton or pretty much anyone harry redknapp has signed.

why take the risk?

1) joey barton is a good but not great footballer
2) he is mentally ill
3) is he better than poulsen or diarra? is he fuck!

I said this in the thread in general football, but until today I would have said yes please. I really think we lack someone who will put their foot in and drive us forward, and Barton has been magnificent at that this season. Plus he's got a good pass on him and knows where the net is.

But whereas Roy Keane's indiscretions used to be on the pitch, Barton has so much off the field baggage that I'm no longer convinced his ability outweigh the problems. It's a shame because I do really rate him as a player, but I think we may see his career slide into oblivion in the next couple of years.

What a brilliantly accurate prediction that was from the 1st May. I'm so perceptive it hurts sometimes.
