A lot of conflicting reports.
Lots of people saying we’re not going for him and a few saying we are.

And then also conflicting opinions on if he’s good or not.

don’t know what to think with this one.

Well from what I gather and have seen so far it seems that balls with:

1. Come from wide from the wingers who are encouraged to beat their man
2. Come from the inside channels where there will be our fullbacks or advanced 8s on the ball with the opportunties to shoot or play the ball from there.

So on top of the 8s who are expected to get into the box as balls come in, the ST should be attacking the goal for an expected cross, soaking up rebound half chances, etc. I do think Richarlison will come good in the system, but I can see David being pretty good in the system as well if he gets his chances. We really need someone that has the instincts to be in the right place at the right time.

A striker who constantly gets into the right spaces to score is not one to scoff at.

I really want Marcos Leonardo and the reason is because of his movement and ability to just be in the right place at the right time.

He isnt the most polished player but that isnt an issue when they constantly have that desire to get into scoring situations.

I don’t know much about this player to be honest, i’m just praying we don’t make anymore mistakes in the transfer market, I hope if he is someone we are after that we are really sure he is decent as we really need to put and an end to expensive mistakes.

No one's gonna be 100% on transfer hits. If we make mistakes, we need to be ruthless and cut bait immediately even if we have to take a bit of a loss so they don't rot on our books. Kind of like Stambouli.

Too expensive for us tightwads I would think. We’ve been linked with him off and on all window though so I wouldn’t completely rule out a “we tried” attempt to bring him in.

Definitely getting the vibes that this will be the “ we tried “ come the end of the window when we’re left light up top.
Would be absolutely delighted to be wrong and look like a complete and utter muppet. 😂😂

Fair point, although that puts David's outfield goals at 1 every 227 mins versus Osimhen's at 1 every 208 mins so there's not all that much in it.

It's also worth noting that penalties account for 22% of Kane's goals.
Also worth asking, how many of those penalties David scored did he win for himself?

That’s not what we do though, we are witnessing it right now.

I feel like if we pay £55-60m for David then we're not getting the centre back we still need.

But we do have to sign someone, Richi gets injured and we have no recognised ST in our team :nailbiting:

On the basis we do have to sign someone then it's a case of risk versus cost.

Orban is lower cost but slightly higher risk than David. David is medium cost and medium risk. And so on... the less risk you want the more you pay and even then there is always a risk.
If its a question of risk then I'd rather we go for JD, Three players younger than him scored close to the same number of goals, Balogum [Arsenal] Wahi [Attitude Qs] and Lois Openda whos went to RBL

We don't know what goes on behind the scenes though. We've had ITK in the past that we agree a fee for a player and their team immediately put the price up and tell us to try again, and they don't just do it once either. It's an easy narrative to simply point the finger at Levy and say he wouldn't stump up the cash, but it seems that (for example) Orban's price goes up a few million every day because foreign teams all think they can take us to the cleaners. It won't be until late in the window that they might start thinking they're about to miss out on a windfall.

Agreed. If David and Brennan Johnson are the best we can do this window, we'd be better off waiting until January to see what opportunities arise IMO. Of course I'd like signings to improve us in the areas that need to be strengthened, but if we can't manage it then let's see what we have with the likes of Richarlison and Solomon rather than spending the money on mediocre players.
I hope we steer clear of Johnson, but I do see something in David even if i'm not completely convinced. I think we have to look at the fact his goalscoring rate (both actual and expected) has increased a lot since the season before and given his age suggests improvement and more consistency.

After Ndombele can you see us paying the same amount for another player from France?

I'd be surprised.
I think our due diligence on players is better these days ever since Paratici has arrived. No red flags over David's character as far as I can tell, and even if there are question marks over his ability, he is also a fit for the progressive style of play.

I find this kind of take very odd. Orban is essentially the new David, who was taking the Belgian league by storm before Lille signed him. He’s made the step up to a tougher league and has continued to get a good goal return.

He had a 1 in 2 goal ratio in Belgium, like Vincent Janssen. Orban does 1 in 1.
