It is.

The guy repeatedly single-handedly (no pun intended) drags Everton through games in a way that very few other keepers can. They'd be a Championship team this season if it wasn't for him. He has an error in him, but so does absolutely every keeper who has ever played the game of football, just look at Alisson at the weekend who is considered one of the best in the World.

Personally Pickford wouldn't be my number 1 pick, but you're doing him a real disservice stating that he's error prone, and those Everton "fans" you know should be grateful they have him.

Every keeper makes errors, and they almost always lead to goals. Alisson & De Gea say Hi.

Its not like Hugo is playing behind a strong defence is it!
Pickford would be a very decent replacement

Definitely early in his Everton career he had a tendency to completely lose his head when he made a mistake. But he's worked with a psychologist for the last 2-3 years and really eradicated that part of his game. To the point he makes no more errors than any other top keeper.

I'd also like to add that in his 3 major competitions for England he has made very few (if any) errors leading to goals, and that's on the biggest stage of them all. He can clearly handle pressure.

Pickford being error prone hasn’t been a valid opinion for at least 18 months. He’s been great for quite a while now and I’d be delighted if we signed him. He’s also a leader on top of being a very good goalkeeper

He was prone to errors, but he's made 2 in the last 2 seasons leading to goals. Hugo himself has 4 this season.

I think people hold a view on Pickford based on the 'keeper he was 3-4 years. He has improved massively over the last 12-18 months, and while I wouldn't necessarily have him at the top of my list, there is no denying that he has become a very good 'keeper.

Getting a HG keeper would be incredibly helpful. I like Pickford, he seems to have a resilient mentality and one can't dismiss how important he is for Everton. Im not sure he'd be my very top pick, but i wouldn't be against it.

Pickford is underrated by a lot of people, much improved on the last 18/24 months IMO.

Think it's easy to remember his mistakes when he was younger, he has definitely improved as he has got older. Been really good for club and country for a while now. I do think Raya has a slightly higher ceiling than Pickford but would not be disappointed with either.

Whilst Hugo was undoubtedly one of the world's best at one stage, arguably still is in terms of pure shot stopping. Either Pickford or Raya would be better options from next season for me.

I like his character. Looks a bit nuts on the field. You need your keeper to be a bit mental.

I’d prefer Raya. Pickford has an enormous kick but Raya is generally better with his feet and whilst Pickford is definitely a good shot stopper I don’t think he’s outstanding or anything.

I suppose it's a relatively cheap way of bringing in a HG player although he wouldn't be near the top of my list.

I think he gets a bit maniacal on the pitch which leads to rash decisions and errors.

No from me, we need someone to calm the defence not put it (even more) on edge.

Is he really not error-prone anymore, or are we just saying that because we are linked to him? I've watched him in the league quite a few times this season, and he has made really dodgy decisions in each of them.

Although, maybe that could have an explanation in how active he has to be for Everton. If you have a lot to do each game, there's an increased risk that you will do something that doesn't look great, I guess. Either way, I'm pretty sure he would get torn apart in here for a lot of the things he does.

Almost always look good for England though, so could work out great if it happens.

Pickford is far from a bad keeper but for me he represents quite a high risk as his personality makes him prone to rashness and I worry if he is actually well suited to playing at a club of a high stature. I would much rather have a less risky option here. I know Man utd probably won't sell to us but dean Henderson is the only English keeper I would be happy signing. If we go for PL experience I would pick Martinez as N1 and would also be happy with Sanchez from Brighton while Oblak would be my n.1 target though I suspect he's out of our reach.

2 errors leading to goals in the last 2 seasons, and 2 in the season before that.

I think he’s a good option. The idea that he’s always making mistakes is nonsense. Good keeper. The very best option? No. A good option and better than the keeper we currently have? Absolutely

He has improved undoubtedly and is a good shot stopper.

As an ex-keeper, for me his footwork is poor in that he rarely adjusts/moves his feet before diving (but that can be said of many modern day keepers).

If you can get a starting quality HG keeper, you try and do it IMO. Not watched him outside of Ingerlund - where he didn't look like a liability at all - to definitively say if he has the quality we'd want though.
