Who remembers this opposition report coming out about Barcelona when he was Chelsea manager?

I suspect he’d be asking for/doing similar reports now on our opposition for the players to digest. I’m assuming this will be the kind of thing Ledley (or whoever the new guy is) Will be asked to produce for him.

This is why Jose has been so successful. He's literally 200% into his job.

I was replying to your original post but your edit got me. It was still saying Hughton (actually Houghton but that's auto correct by the looks of things) and Maradona came up in the quote which had me confused.

I can see why you were easily confused

Lovely having a true club legends (and our last trophy winning captain) back at the club. If our centre backs can’t learn something from him then they’re lost causes, he to this day remains the best centre back I’ve seen anywhere, even accounting for my Spurs bias. Couldn’t tell which was his best foot, first touch of a Spanish playmaker, power and strength of a bull but the pace and agility of a cheetah, unparalleled vision, almost never had to tackle but when he did it was perfect, and read the game ten steps ahead of every other player on the pitch.

Couple that all with his immense natural fitness (see the league cup final 2008 for proof) and athleticism, as well as full commitment to his profession, and you’ve got the ideal footballing role model not just for our young defenders, but practically every player at the club. I genuinely believe that he’d have ended up great in whatever outfield position he specialised in, he was that good.
Couldn't agree with this more. Henry said he was the best defender he ever played against. Whenever me and my mates do our all time Premier XI after way too many beers, King is always in my team. No one else really understands. Could have played for anyone. And did it all with one knee. Amazing player.

He did indeed.

He said this too:

“I don't like defenders who hold the shirts of other players. The only defender here who doesn't do that and still gets the ball off my feet easily is Ledley King. He will get the ball off you without you even noticing.“

A beautifully skilful player, brilliantly intelligent footballer, supreme defender.

I want to frame that quote and put in my office.

When I was a young man there was a girl I wanted to go out with badly but my so called best mate who I hung about with was always saying things about her and why I should not go out with her it was always pick pick pick nag nag nag in the end I had to tell him to give it a rest .
I feel that annoyance about those that keep up the pick pick pick pick about Jose and all I can say is give it a rest .
Incidentally I took what he said about this girl was maybe true and moved on and a couple of weeks later he was going out with the same girl
You could not make it up .So my lesson was do not take any notice of the pick pick pick people ( insert anti Mourhino people ) as they are generally not to be relied upon .
Ahhh the classic cock blocking double cross.
Your mates a lad!

Is that Poch's disapproving face in the background on the video in the link?

If we are being honest, we can't even judge Mourinho by next year, as there is no proper preseason with the international football etc. Covid is affecting next season as well as this one.

For me, although it's not the most exciting football it's clearly evident we have improved. I loved Pochs high intensity press, but we lost that for nearly 12 months and he never adjusted to the change in the players, and seemed stubborn on his approach.

If we keep going the way we are and Jose takes cups seriously we could have a good chance next year.

If he gets the whole of next season he'll be coming up to the average tenure for a manager these days. He will be judged by then and before then whether it's 'fair' or not. But we've been much improved recently and I'm optimistic we'll have no reason to question his position!

Mourinho will be marmite as his tactics are so negative and he wants the opponents to have the ball so they can make a mistake. All fine as long as he has players who can execute at both ends. So we will need upgrades for the likes of Aurier, Winks and Sissoko before we are anything other than a middling team.

Normal is out the window these days though due to the whole pandemic issues.

Let's be honest, if the figures are to be believed and the length of contract, we aren't going to pay over 35 million to get rid off Jose this quickly.

I’d say this is a successful first half season for us. Before he took over we were 14th and looked shite and not getting results.

We still look pretty shite a lot of the time’s but as a whole managing to get results.

Hopefully A positive summer and look to try and get a cup win next season.

Finishing 6th is quite impressive for spurs considering the crap they have had to go through. I do think if we had the same luck as man u when it comes to refs and VAR we would be top 4 but i guess we dont generate as much money. Never mind.

Hard to believe that a potential window of Max Aarons, Callum Wilson, Hojbjerg and the Korean CB will take us back to being able to compete.

Appalling football again, the only difference today compared to the last few games is that the opposition got what they deserved out of the game.

Be interesting to see what Jose can do with a couple of decent signings, but the football we’re currently playing under him makes it hard for me to be overly optimistic about the future.

If this kind of display makes Mourinho happy because we qualified for europe, then i fear for our team next season.

I do not condone such a poor performance.

Whatever achievement he has made for us so far, im not buying it.

I stand by my stance that Jose is not the man to bring us forward.
