TBF he'd make a pretty good enforcer in hockey...

Please. Enforcers in hockey can actually fight. Beating up a fat kid at a McDonalds with mates ready to leap in if the other person gets a shot in.....that's not fighting. Diving when you were slapped in a match, rather than ruining the little bitch that would use and open faced slap in a real fight.....that's not even close to fighting (well outside of the Vancouver Canucks). Barton is an epic bitch. Kind of guy that is best in a fight where he has a gun and the other person doesn't/ Wouldn't last 3 seconds against anybody with a little steel. Robbie Keane would have annihilated him.

The post was very much tongue-in-cheek. But as far as provocation goes he's up there with a lot of NHL players, the fighting part is a different story. Iginla (even though he's not strictly speaking an enforcer) would have him for breakfast.

probably end up back inside. At least then QPR could legitimately sack him.

As I'm sure Barton has already tweeted; 'Only by forgetting this primitive world of metaphor can one live with any repose, security, and consistency' (Friedrich Nietzsche).

He will start about pigeons or something soon. I wish I was as intelligent as him but alas no chance. Now where's that yoof team player with my cigar.

Yes he has been arrested so could be back inside again.

He's on a real downward spiral now and I just hope he won't be seen on a football pitch ever again.

QPR must be praying he gets charged for this. The perfect excuse to sack him and save themselves 11 million.

It gets better....

Joey Barton says that his poor behaviour is stopping him from "walking into" the England squad.
Posting on his Twitter site today, the QPR midfielder also claimed that Jordan Henderson's call-up for Euro 2012 means any Englishman not in the squad should feel aggrieved.
Barton, 29, will serve a 12-match ban at the start of next season after his sending-off against Manchester City on the final day of last season.
He elbowed Carlos Tevez before reacting to the red card by kicking Sergio Aguero and aiming a headbutt at Vincent Kompany.
England have lost several midfielders for Euro 2012, including key men Frank Lampard, Gareth Barry and Jack Wilshere.
Liverpool's Henderson was called into the squad as an injury replacement and Barton, who won one cap against Spain in 2007, wrote on Twitter: "Why are people giving me loads [of abuse] about England saying 'cant get in squad etc'.
"On ability I walk into the squad, on behaviour I don't... #fact.
"If Henderson got in, any Englishman not currently in the squad has to feel aggrieved. Yes, I wish I was there but I'm not...
"Everyone's thinking it I'll say it. Liverpool have an horrific season and have six players in our euro squad. What chance do we have. Pick on form.
"How [Grant] Holt, [Micah] Richards, [Michael] Carrick, [Rio] Ferdinand, [Leon] Osman, [Daniel]Sturridge etc never got involved is a travesty..."
He added: "I really hope England do well and win it, I really do. All am saying is a don't think we will and it p***es me off...
"If everyone stays fit, we've got a decent 11 once [Wayne] Rooney's back.
"If any of the keys players get a knock, we are done for. Three games in eight/nine days takes its toll on the body.
"If a few are carrying injuries from a long domestic season, it will show. Not being pessimistic just a realist.
"I am overqualified to pass judgement on this. Not only have I played in the Premier League for 10 years but I've played with and against most of them."

What he says about the selections makes a good deal of sense, but that's the trouble with Barton, isn't it? He was on TV a while back before it all kicked off and my missus asked who he was. I told her, and she said, 'But I thought you said he was a psycho? He's one of the most intelligent-sounding footballers I've ever heard.'

This is perfectly true, as it's also true that a lot of psychopaths are very bright. Take that Hannibal Lecter geezer…

hes right about all of that except the fact that he would get into the England squad - he was dropped by QPR towards the end of the season for a couple of games as his form was so bad. He comes across quite intelligently (though it is very easy to do so when you have the time to think what you are saying rather than simply responding) but his football ability is nothing better than average. Many many English midfielders who would be in my side over him based purely on footballing ability

  1. Joey Barton does not know what a fact it.
  2. If it was true that his ability would allow him to walk into the England squad it would just make him an even bigger dickhead for behaving like a complete bellend.
  3. Fact.

how anyone can shed a tear for Barton is beyond me.
