Joey Barton, the best thing Timmy Atouba ever did for Spurs.
That man was a genius ahead of his time.

I saw that QPR were looking to sack him.

Ridiculously short-sighted of them, yeah he'll be banned for 12 games but Barton is a good player, especially with QPR attempting to establish themselves long-term in the Prem.

They should stand by him, he'll probably be immense when he gets back as will want to prove a point.

Yeah he's a thug but there are a lot worse out there - Cattermole as mentioned, Terry, etc.

Just because it's Barton everyone has to go over the top.

A club like QPR at this point aren't going to get much better in their midfield engine then Barton.

Sure fine him as he's been a naughty boy and don't include him in the 25 man squad until January.

He is being made an example of for constantly bringing the game into disrepute I would imagine. He really is a tool.

The man is a thug, shouldn't be allowed near a football pitch yet people continue to make excuses for him.....just because he has a twitter presence where he continues to recycle quotes and tries to make himself look clever.

I'm not making excuses for him or denying that he is a thug and the twitter thing doesn't really interest me (I can't even use my Twitter account properly lol).

My point is that QPR seemed very quick to try and sack him but logically in their position with the calibre of players they have they'd be better off just fining him then sticking with him as he'll come back with a vengence.

Yes it's morally questionable but as per my previous post there are lots of ****s playing for different teams at the moment.

I think that if they want him to serve his ban then they have to, don't they? Isn't it 12 games that he'd be available for selection in?

You would stand by a player who was completely irresponsible on one of the most decisive days of the season? Regardless of his history, I wouldn't want a player who couldn't play for 12 games next season.

Can't help but agree, even though he is a complete tool, he has put in some great performances for QPR and the second half of the season where they will be up against it again (Pretty sure they will go down next season) would be the perfect time for him to repay the fans.

He owes the club and the fans for his actions, is sacking him going to do any good? Probably not, I am sure another prem team would take him despite his lengthy ban.

Not sure how anyone can say it's harsh that he got a 12 match ban. In the space of 1 minute he elbowed someone, punched someone else and headbutted another player. If those happened in separate matches he'd get a 3 match ban for each, and I think the ban escalates if you get more than one red card in a season so he'd have got one 3 match ban, one 4 match ban and one 5 match ban which makes....12.

He sets the worst kind of example in sport, especially for kids. He should really be banned from playing any professional sport for life.

It's not harsh - it's totally deserved, whatever people say. Kicking opponents and then bragging about it on social media. The man is a repulsive ****.

I don't care how good a player he is - he's had enough chances to 'reform' and he just hasn't. Waste of space and talent.

However stupid what he did was, and it was unbelievably reckless in such a huge game for QPR, how can it be justified that someone gets a 12 match ban for essentially being a dickhead albeit a fairly harmless dickhead, yet players get away with 3/4 matches when they endanger their fellow professionals career with awful challenges.

You have people like Roy Keane moralising about Barton when he himself went out to deliberately and badly injure a player, the worst thing Aguero was likely to get was a dead leg.

If you are going to give Barton a 12 match ban, then slap 20+ games on those who fly about making career ending tackles.

Damm right.

I bet he never got a police caution for it either.

I butted someone who deserved it.

Got a caution which stays on records forever and has stopped me doing what ive always wanted to do - join the police force.

A 12 match is nothing.

Then increase the ban for horrendous tackles. I dont thunj 3-4 games is Anywhere near enougg for those types of challenges.

I 100% agree with bartons ban. What he did after his card was nothing less than an assault. There was no ball to go for. The game was stopped. He lashed out violently at someone. Had this not been on q pitch it WOULD be assault! He then went and callously bragged on twitter about it later saying he was trying to take someone down with him. That is more than worthy of a lengthy ban, whatever anyone says. He is a thug, a coward and a scumbag. Fuck him.

Footballer Joey Barton has been punched in the face outside a nightclub in Liverpool.

Merseyside Police said officers were called to Eberle Street at about 05:30 BST following reports of a disturbance outside the Garlands club.

They confirmed that a 29-year-old man who had been injured voluntarily left the scene.

Two 21 year-olds are being held on suspicion of a public order offence and are currently in police custody.

Only a matter of time really.

I'm surprised Barton can leave his house without someone taking a swing at him.
