If King joins, maybe Norwegian will make room for us in their coverage, amidst the continuing wank fest surrounding Man United and Liverpool.

I hope at the very least if we sign him people will accept that they don’t know even 1/1000 of what Mourinho knows about winning a football match and give him a chance.

What am I saying? No way, you lot will burn effigies of him after one 13 minute appearance off the bench without a goal.

It’s a toss up for me whether I’d prefer King or Wood. Wood is probably more of a goalscorer with a run in the side, but King’s versatility and pace means he’d likely get more games than Wood would. Both are HG, both are 28 and turning 29 mid season, both are proven in this league and both are gettable. I think I’m a touch more drawn to Wood because I think he’s the type of player that’ll score goals at a high level for longer, but in a reality where both are fairly short to mid term options, I think I’m equally happy either way as they’d both improve us, give us something we lack and pretty much round off our squad (subject to any upcoming outgoings).

So king has one year left on his deal .

I reckon that's a big indication we want him. He certainly offers quality , pace , strength, versatile and that is the key. We sometimes do play 442 and he will also get games on the wing. Far easier to convince someone like that than even a chris wood who would be a second option to harry.

Yes he is. Came through the ranks at Manchester United

I'm not totally opposed at signing him, but he seems to be having more and more minor injuries over the years.
31, 36, 33, 35 and 26 league appearances respectively in each of the past five seasons.

My preference would be king over Wilson. however as a cover for kane, having king is similar to having son as a cover for kane. So if the option was to have a cover for kane then it has to be Wilson.

King's injury history is generally speaking excellent.

He did struggle a bit last season though. No doubt. Even if that last injury was due to a tackle - he still had some muscular issues throughout.

You never know about these things, but not something that would worry me with him. On the contrary I think he is less likely to struggle with injuries that most players.

He's got a year left, there's no way they'd want that much IMO. They supposedly want £25-30m for Wilson who is probably more important for them and has 3 years left on his contract.
And there lies the problem - Bournemouth don't need the cash at this moment, all their players are on wage deductions in the Championship and they probably would get more value from King helping their promotion chase than by selling for a low amount. I think it was Ally Gold who was saying Bournemouth wanted silly money and somewhere else saw the £25m being mentioned. Unless King kicks up a fuss, i'm not sure they'll deal at a price we're willing to pay.

I honestly cannot see Bournemouth keeping him against his will - even if he doesn't make a fuss about it. He has been a "loyal" Bournemouth player for years. And he has reached an age where he cannot really allow to "waste" a season at a lower level.

I would be shocked if he didn't get sold, but I am sure there are quite a few clubs after him so no need for Bournemouth to sort out the situation quickly.

King's only been allowed to play up front as the main striker one season for Bournemouth, that's the season he scored 16 in the league, with his versatility making it easier for Eddie Howe to let King do a job out of position - left wing, support striker etc. The reason why King hasn't played more as a striker at Bournemouth isn't because he can't, but that it makes more sense to do so with Wilson who's the more limited forward. King's stronger than Son in the hold up game, playing as a lone striker isn't an issue for King and it opens up for Son to stay in his primary position. King's not a target man, but then again we don't play with one. When we go direct we tend to to it on the ground or send the ball in the room behind defenders. Which suit King who's one of the fastest and hardest working strikers in the league.

They're the same height, easy to think King is taller and Wilson shorter than they are, due to their playing style.
I think it comes from King being much stronger and more powerful. Les Ferdinand was the same, at the same height as these two as well 1.80 m (5 ft 11 in)
King wins more aerial duels than Wilson which is worth noting.

I agree - just not sure King is really pushing for the move yet as think we'd see more media links as his agent touts him around. It'll all depend on the player making the move happen.

Reckon we'd bring up both the transfer of same age Doherty and one year left on contract Højbjerg in any negotiations. If it's true we've talked with his agent already then they will cooperate with our strategy as well. Bournemouth are stubborn in their sales though and have messed up with King, Wilson and Fraser due to it, pay the price for it now being in the Championship. Should have made a 100m+ profit on that trio and reinvested.
