"...is currently one of them most scouted players in European football." Not sure how they measure that....

Spurs in for Quintero

e-Spurs have learnt that Tottenham are making enquiries about young Columbian starlet Juan Quintero with a view to a summer transfer.

Quintero on Spurs Radar

Juan Fernando Quintero Paniagua is a 19 year old Colombian currently plying his trade at Italian side Pescara. He was born in Medellín, Colombia, and started his playing career with the youth squad for Envigado. A 2011 transfer took him to Atlético Nacional before his next move joining Pescara in Italy. It is thought that Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson is also looking at the young star.

At just 5'7 Quintero is not a target man in the mould of a Peter Crouch, but more of a Teddy Sheringham with pace. This pace and skill have seen him passing defenders with ease in Serie A during his 14 appearances. Quintero made his debut for national team Colombia at just 19 against Cameroon and is currently one of them most scouted players in European football. While starring for Columbia in the recent South American Youth Championships Quintero was voted the MVP, leading his side to title number 3 whilst also scoring a stunning 50 yard free kick against Argentina.

Described as similar to James Rodriguez, this left footed AM/ST has scored 1 goal in 14 appearances for Pescara, although many of these have been from the bench this season.

He's in the team that is going to be relegated without question in Serie A. Had interest from United etc. so can't be as crap as stats suggest.

Being compared in some way to James Rodriguez was all I needed to hear. And, by watching the few videos I could find, there are some similarities.

Like Ruben Botta, another player that you would normally think would be a Porto type signing. Glad to see us linked with these types of players, south american talent on the cusp of becoming stars. Quintero already capped at senior level at 19, think he'd be a decent signing if the price is right.

Doesn't look special enough to make it in the EPl given how slight he is. Very left-footed and a bit predictable.

Would be my only concern about him especially as most of our kids looking to breakthough are all midgets as well

Would there be problem with work permits for this kind of players?

Quintero should be ok being that he is a full international, not sure about Botta but alot of Argentine's have Spanish/Italian passports, I'm assuming that is the case if we are trying to sign him.

Sounds like a good cyclists who could do a job in the mountains. Not sure about his football skills.

Just watched a bit of the video, some nice dribbles but also some typical latin dives that I was less than impressed by. But wtf is this with the extremely bad taste of music of the average football interested you tube poster???

Don't think he would hold up in the pl though, sadly since I would love to have a Colombian in our team, would raise our profile here.

We ain't Barca though and the PL will always be more physically demanding than La Liga
I dont see the reasoning in your "we aint Barca though", clearly we are not, but why should we not try and emulate what they do? As for your second point, the Premier League is changing mate, every season it becomes less physical and more technical. People said Modric was too small, also look at Coutinho at Liverpool, looks a fantastic buy imo. If your good enough your big enough in my opinion.

smaller players are prospering but look at the scum everyone knows they need more physicality in their team than always smash teams that try to play against them but struggle in physical battles, their last trophy winning team had Viera and Petit in cm, won nothing since personally I'd rather not emulate anyone but create our own style

This is the fact. Although strength will never leave the English game, the desire for technical ability in attack is growing every year and it just so happens that the majority of great dribblers are Europe/south American and normally have a slight build. Hazard and Oscar are other prime examples. I must say, I was really annoyed we didn't go in for Coutinho this winter but most people seemed to write him off but so far he has looked really promising and sadly better, thus far, then Holtby.
