Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata empathises with those who believe football has become too commercialised and claims he would take a pay cut if the game was less business-orientated.

Footballers earning far too much money is one of those 'least-worst' scenarios. Football is huge business and if that money is going to the players rather the boardroom, that puts it a mile ahead of most other industries - at least it's going to the people doing the work. Obviously in a perfect world you'd even things out a little by dropping ticket/Sky prices, but given that this is never going to happen I'd rather see Harry Kane getting a few million a year then some faceless businessman on his yacht in the Bahamas.
